The great outdoors is critical to a child’s development and at Devonshire House Nursery School, they ensure that the children spend as much time outdoors as possible in their three playgrounds (including a brand a newly-renovated ultra-sustainable, all-wooden adventure playground).

Children begin their journey in Devonshire House Nursery School at the age of two, where a variety of sessions are available, from mornings only, to all day. The day is carefully arranged so that children attending different sessions are able to make the most of their whole time in the Nursery.

Being part of a Nursery School, Devonshire House children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.

There is a balance between adult-directed teaching and child-initiated learning. In both the indoor and outdoor environments, children learn through play-based and hands-on experiences.

Staff carefully support and observe each child, keeping track of their interest and progress, ensuring plenty of new ideas and challenges, as well as identifying any areas for support.

Devonshire House Nursery has a clear focus on wellbeing. Children grow in confidence, self-belief and resilience during their time in Nursery. Time is dedicated daily to mindfulness activities. Their tailored personal, social and emotional development program also allows children to reflect, learn and grow as individuals and as part of their wider world.
