The Cobbs Nursery is a wonderful setting for little ones. The staff are enthusiastic, caring and really lovely. They were great at keeping us informed on what our child had been up to and how she was progressing. The nursury operates during school hours but there is an excellent before and after-school
club onsite for nursery children. The nursery has a fantastic outdoor space and children can access the 'wild garden' of the school next door. Because the nursery is attached and run by Cobbs School, the children are very well equipped for starting school and my daughter had a very positive and easy transition from nursery to school. She had been able to visit her reception class and get to know her teacher ahead of time and was familiar with the school. She was ready and full of confidence when it came to starting reception!

My children have loved the nursery setting at Cobbs and attended from being 2 years old. It has been an excellent part of their development, teaching them valuable skills for their school careers and helping them to make new friends. The fact that the nursery is a part of the school has meant that my
children were already comfortable with the school environment and transitioned into their reception year happily.
The teaching staff are all super skilled and friendly, and the children have a wide variety of activities and equipment available to them. Both the classrooms and the outside spaces for learning are excellent.
An additional bonus is that the children have been able to access breakfast, after school and holiday clubs from the start (even at 2 years old) meaning that even in school holidays continuous provision is available.
After a great experience with my first child at Cobbs Nursery, we didn’t hesitate to use the facility again for our next child and would recommend to anyone.

I was a bit nervous my child would be overwhelmed by the size of Cobbs but, because of our proximity to the school, wanted to ease them into it via the nursery. I needn't have worried, the preparation and activities provided meant starting school was lovely and straightforward. The nursery has a nurturing
ethos and helps develop social skills (sharing, making good decisions etc) as well as setting children up with what they need educationally for school, learning indoors and outdoors. I also appreciated how supportive the nursery was with my child's speech and language needs.

All of my children have been to this nursery and they have all absolutely loved it.
We like the fact that it is attached to a school so the children have fun and are learning at the same time and then able to transition easily into the main school as they already feel part of the wider setting, so
there was no upset etc. about starting school as they felt that they were part of it already.
The nursery also employed qualified teachers as well as TAs which means that I had confidence in the educational outcomes of the play-based activities, not all nurseries do this. And I love the outdoor spaces and the different classrooms, there is always something different each day for the kids to do.

I will be very sad when I no longer have a child in The Cobbs Nursery!

We were delighted to find this gem of a nursery. It is part of, and next door to a school so has a strong educational focus which was what we wanted. We have found the staff to be kind and caring and very good at keeping us informed. We even have parent's evenings and receive school reports which is
lovely. The equipment the children have access to is wide ranging and they can also use school facilities so they visit the computer room weekly, can use the school hall for dance and visit the wild garden which is like a forest school area. We managed to get places for both of our children mid-term in the setting for three year old's and also the two-year-old's. As we both work full time, we also access the full wrap-around care for some of the week so we can drop off before 8 am and collect at 6 pm. We are very happy with our choice and highly recommend The Cobbs.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.100)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.100) out of 10 for The Cobbs Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 5.000 for The Cobbs Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (72 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.1 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Cobbs Nursery is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 number of registered child places is 12. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.5

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
