Set in the historic Cooper Dean Pavilion in central Bournemouth, Dean Park Nursery caters for families with children from 3 months to 5 years. The nursery opens each weekday, from 8am to 6pm, throughout the year and has been rated 'Good' by Ofsted in April 2024.

The grounds and facilities are extensive, offering children wonderful learning spaces indoors and out. The nursery sits within 6 acres of the former cricket pavilion and, as well as a well-maintained green space, there is an astro-turf, where older children can safely scoot, learn to cycle and ride in their toy cars. Each age group has access to a dedicated adventure garden that has wooden play equipment for children to enjoy. A cosy reading nook, a stage for performances and even a castle are there to be explored.

Indoors, each age group has its own dedicated space where children can choose their activity. Learning follows the Early Years Foundation Stage, and parents are kept up to date with their children's progress throughout the week with an interactive app that the nursery uses for communication.

Families are welcome to meet with nursery staff and enjoy a personal tour at any time during the week.

Trustworthy, transparent, kind and caring just a few words to describe this lovely place. The world is a hard place for families but this nursery is a power house of positivity and a safe place with the warmest atmosphere. One Nursery Practitioner I first met showed incredible kindness, and after my
son coming here for a year, this is genuine, she is a force of good and an asset to the nursery. The Manager is incredibly switched on, and treats her team with respect which reflects upon her teams great attitude and motivation, in particular the Nursery Team are outstanding. The quality of staff is outstanding, these guys are trained very well, our son has speech delay they sat us all down created a program for him and actively push his ability.

I think a good nursery is kind to parents too, and honestly they are always accommodating, kind and present. They actively invest in new facilities so you see you money going back into the nursery quality.

The staff at Dean Park Nursery are amazing and very professional, they really care about our children. One of my sons has special needs and they make sure he has the right activities to help with his development. The premises are very good, especially the outdoors. I would recommend Dean Park to any
parent looking for a nursery for their child. Thank you.

Dean Park is an excellent Nursery. My daughter has been going there since September 2022 and has had the most wonderful experiences there. She regularly does activities that are so interesting and teach her a lot. I'm always amazed by what she comes home with and what they've taught her. There's a real
atmosphere of love and family at the nursery and they are incredibly welcoming to every member of the family. I often tell them that it takes a village to raise a child and they are firmly part of my village. The staff really clearly care about the children and they're passion for childcare really shows. Their outdoor space and attitude to outdoor play in all weathers is what set them apart for me.

Amazing nursery, spacious, creative, helpful with caring and knowledgeable staff.
My 2-year-old enjoys every day indoors and outdoors. The playground is the highlight, very spacious. The only thing I would recommend is to allow resident full-time kids to spend at least one day per week at The Forest
School.

We continually strive to create a creative and supportive environment for our little ones. Your suggestion about offering full-time kids an opportunity to spend a day at The Forest School is greatly appreciated, and we will definitely take it into consideration. Thank you for being a part of our community!

My daughter currently attends and is in the baby room. She is so happy to go in and has an amazing bond with the staff who care for her. The communication is excellent. I always know how she is, her mood, how she has eaten and slept and what she has got up to. The facilities are fantastic. The staff
are friendly and enthusiastic and easy to talk to. We are very happy with our daughter's progress.

Our son joined Dean Park Day Nursery in May 2024 and we could not be happier. As first-time parents our nerves and fears were quickly settled and all the staff have been incredible and supportive, guiding us along the way. Our son adores his key nursery workers and now he runs into the nursery room
without a backward glance. The staff keep the app up to date so we can see everything he does from nappy changes to food and naps. Thank you!

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.269)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.269) out of 10 for Dean Park Day Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.854 for Dean Park Day Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (84 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.854

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.415 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Dean Park Day Nursery is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 number of registered child places is 13. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 13 = 0.615

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
