Puddleducks Children’s Day Nursery Malton is situated just outside the lovely market town of Malton, perfectly located beside the A64 on a main commuter route out of Malton. The purpose-built nursery boasts spacious rooms and large, enclosed outdoors areas for children to play and learn. Having been designed and built with children and their needs in mind, the nursery is a well-designed, homely environment. Its has its own private car park to the front of the building, which is easily accessed. Places are offered from birth, up to children leaving for school and the setting contains 3 rooms, babies, toddlers and preschool.

When visiting the nursery, you will notice there are very few plastic manufactured toys. The team are strong believers that the more a toy does, the less a child learns from it. So, typical plastic toys with their flashing lights and noisy buttons do not feature in the nursery. Instead, they value open-ended, recycled, real items. As a result, children show deep levels of engagement and curiosity in their play – both are essential for effective learning and development.

The team of staff are dedicated to excellence and a key person approach always ensures that they are enabling and supporting close attachments between individual children and individual nursery staff. The Key Person approach recognises that an infant is distressed by differences and comforted by the familiar. Before your child begins their journey at Puddleducks, you will be informed which member of the team will be their key person.
Your child’s key person will meet any physical needs, such as changing nappies, feeding or cuddling at nap time, and in this way, they begin to build a secure attachment with your child. Touch is a powerful non-verbal message, reassuring children that they are liked and welcome, and cuddling is promoted. Your child’s key person will be your main point of contact.

I had to go back to work quite early after having my little boy and sending him to a nursery terrified me! From day one, Puddleducks have been absolutely amazing with me, and my son. Although he can't tell me yet, I know he loves his nursery days and staff from the big smiles when he sees them. I love
how even though he is really little they find a way to get him involved with the older babies and have arranged some sensory activities just for him! The baby room is fantastic, well equipped, well staffed and is a lovely calming environment.
My little boy has just started weaning and nursery are supporting this too offering him some lovely purees just for him at lunchtime. The weekly menus are lovely and varied too, I'm excited for my son to try all the yummy home-cooked food on offer.
I trust everyone at Puddleducks completely in caring for my boy. They genuinely have the children's safety, happiness, and development at the heart of everything they do.

All the staff are extremely welcoming and friendly and they all go the extra mile to make sure the children are well looked after and cared for. The meals they receive are exceptional and I couldn’t recommend the place more!

I am so happy with the nursery. I have two daughters there (different ages) and their main caregivers (they are in different rooms) treat them like they are their own, and like we do, with lots of patience and care and gives them confidence. They are always happy being dropped off and have big smiles
when I pick them up.
My older daughter is always telling me about her day (the younger one can’t talk yet) and what she has eaten (the menu is always tasty and varied).
She has learnt a lot in terms of playing with others, to share and take turns and be gentle with younger ones which has helped a lot with when she plays with her little sister.
They both really enjoy the activities which are always changing which keeps them really engaged. They love the events such as the nursery graduation and the king's coronation celebrations!
I will be extremely sad when the girls go to school, the nursery very much feels like part of our family.

We were delighted when we found out Puddleducks was opening in Malton. Our child joined the baby room and is currently in the toddler room. The staff have been wonderful. They really care about each child. The rooms within the nursery are beautiful and the children always happy. They have a great array
of food for them to eat which is great for developing taste buds. The staff in the office are brilliant at communication and always keep us informed. Thank you Puddleducks! We couldn’t fault you.

We feel privileged that our daughter attends Puddleducks Nursery. All of the staff, from management to the amazing ladies who work in each room, always go above and beyond. Our little girl is so incredibly happy at nursery and has come on leaps and bounds. She always gets to take part in a range of
fun and engaging activities. There is a fantastic menu and a great variety of food provided and our daughter loves it so much that she always has two helpings. We are always well informed about everything and the curriculum evening was a fabulous opportunity to explore the learning space and ask questions. The staff always dedicate time at the end of the day and we have parent video meeting three times a year, where staff share the progress that they have made and where they would like to take their learning next. We love the way that they have a rotation of focus children and send our daughter's folder home to see what she’s been doing. We honestly wouldn’t want her to be anywhere else.

We absolutely love Puddleducks Nursery. Even though my child only goes one day a week, it still feels like a home away from home for them. All of the staff go above and beyond to make the children and their families feel welcome. And the morning tea/coffee/flapjack for busy commuting parents is the
best!

My son has been coming to Puddleducks since it opened. He had previously been at another nursery which he hadn’t really settled at so we moved him to Puddleducks.
He has taken a little while to settle but the staff have always ensured that he gets the care he needs to settle him and reassure him.
He now thoroughly enjoys coming to Puddleducks, they do a wide range of activities and he is learning so much.
Thank you Puddleducks for making a worried mummy feel at ease!

The staff at Puddleducks are absolutely fantastic. Our little girl loves going here! She has learnt lots since going! The menus are fabulous and always serve great nutritional meals!
We couldn’t recommend a better nursery for the little ones.
Puddleducks always keep us up to date with regular newsletters
and ‘focus child’ books.
The staff are so welcoming and it’s lovely to see happy faces on a morning.

I recommend Puddleducks Nursery Malton to everyone! The care and attention they have given to our children has been exceptional and we can not fault them! Always warm and welcoming on arrival and very informative at pick-up.
Our children absolutely love going, they insist on carrying their backpacks
to the car and opening the doors to their rooms where they run to their key workers for a hug!

We had used a couple of nurseries prior to both our children moving 12 months ago to Puddleducks Nursery Malton. Absolutely thrilled with them and amazed at how well they utilise their space. They’ve been a fantastic support to both of our children, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. They are
an incredibly hard-working team of passionate, enthusiastic, knowledgeable staff. Absolutely knocked the socks off the other nurseries we had used; I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Our toddler has been at Puddleducks for a year, and we’re really impressed with the nursery. They've been absolutely amazing, and nothing is too much trouble! Our 17-month-old has serious allergies, and Puddleducks has been absolutely fantastic with this, doing special meals and coordinating with us
through the weaning process. All the staff are lovely, and our toddler has a great bond with their keyworker and toddles in happily each morning with a huge grin! There’s lots of thought put into activities, and we love the underpinning, ‘curiosity approach’; our child has come on loads since starting, and Puddleducks and we’d absolutely recommend it.

Both of our girls attend Puddleducks and we couldn’t be happier. Our eldest attended a different setting previously and we made the decision to move her after she struggled to settle, often coming home/going into nursery very upset. We are thrilled with the provision that Puddleducks provides to our
children and haven’t looked back. Our youngest recently joined the baby room and again, we couldn’t ask for a better team of staff to care for her. We are very lucky!

It means a lot to leave your child somewhere and not worry and know that they are incredibly well looked after and very happy. Both of our children attend Puddleducks, one newly in preschool and one in the baby room. I will never be able to speak highly enough of this nursery and the staff throughout all departments. It’s home from home for our boys, they absolutely love going and are always excited to show and tell us what
their day has consisted of. The variety of activities provided is just amazing, they are always doing something utterly amazing. The food they have is always nutritious and a great variety is served on a weekly basis. Each and every person is so special, they are so kind and love the children as though their own. We are provided weekly updates and photos so we can see all the fun they have had. The support the children receive through their nursery journey is more than you could wish for and we know without the care of Puddleducks our children wouldn’t be the children they are today. Thank you Puddleducks for being the best nursery to exist!

I have nothing but great things to say about Puddleducks, the care given to our daughter is outstanding. She has come on so much with speech since attending, she thrives there. She really looks forward to going on her days there and never gets upset, which tells me she has nothing but fun when she is
there. The activities Puddleducks have set out for the children are fab, everything you could think of. The space and equipment for the children to play and learn are some of the best I’ve seen in a nursery setting.


The bonds between the staff and children are absolutely lovely to see and the way my daughter speaks about the staff is also so lovely to hear. My child can be a fussy and little and often eater, she likes plain things pretty much so doesn’t often eat loads of the meals but does give most a try, the food has very high standards. I wouldn’t have her anywhere else.

Our eldest has been with the nursery since they opened and has flourished in the environment they provide. She is now fully prepared for the school environment and is really looking forward to it through the positive reinforcement taught here at Puddleducks. All the staff are very friendly and caring
and really connected with each child, from the office staff to the staff in each room everyone seems to be on the same page. The food at the nursery is also really fantastic and our eldest was always interested to know what she was having that day on our way in and was always positive about what she was having. The feedback in the form of weekly newsletters for each room is also really good and shows the activities they have been doing including pictures which is really nice to see, and there is also detailed daily feedback at pickup time. We have now put our youngest in Puddleducks due to the fantastic experience we have had.

My little one has spent the last year at Puddleducks (in the toddler room) and has absolutely loved his time there. His wonderful key person helped him to quickly settle last September and has continued to help him grow and flourish in this setting. He refers to his key person as his friend which demonstrates
this lovely relationship they have. He has always been delighted to attend this setting and talks about the wonderful experiences he has each day! His learning journal is detailed and his next steps follow on from the experiences he's had and the interests that he's shown at home. The feedback we get at the end of the day in addition to the weekly blog also helps me to talk about and reflect on this learning with him. The team at Puddleducks have also continued to foster a love of reading in my little one. Must mention the menu too as it has certainly been a favourite! A really beautifully presented nursery with a lovely family feel! Puddleducks really is a home from home!

Both of our children have been attending Puddleducks since it opened last year. We have watched them learn, develop and grow as little people with the guidance of the nursery team. The whole experience has been exceptional. There is a clear passion for what they do amongst the team, this is obvious
when you see how happy the children are after a day spent there. Our kids absolutely love it here!

Lindsey Dring

Lindsey is a qualified and experienced primary teacher, specialising in early years. She has loved working with children from all walks of life. Children’s earliest experience of education and learning are key to their development and having struggled to find a local nursery that she trusted with her own child; Lindsey invests time and effort into creating an environment for children to flourish in.


Lindsey is a creative soul at heart and when you don’t find her at the nursery, you’ll usually find her working on a messy project or with her head under a sewing machine. Lindsey also has a costume degree and after spending some time working on a few Disney films, she still cannot be away from her machine for too long!


She is lucky enough to be blessed with a wonderful little boy that LOVES to read. She enjoys a Gruffalo hunt in the woods followed by hot chocolates and plenty of biscuits!

Rose Robertson

Having worked at our Sheriff Hutton site for 9 years, Rose now supports Lindsey and the smooth operations at our Malton site. If she’s not busy with operations in the office, she can be found snuggled up with a group of babies.


Rose loves the nurturing aspect of her job, recognising that cuddles and comfort are key to babies’ development. With years of experience working with babies, Rose is an experienced practitioner with a wealth of knowledge and understanding of babies developmental and welfare needs. She has two little girls of her own; both have attended Puddleducks with her and have flown our nest to primary school now. As a parent herself, she fully understands the enormity of placing your children in a nursery. Rose is our longest-standing team member and continues to be a significant member of the Puddleducks team.

Preeya Patel

Preeya also started her Puddleducks journey at our Sheriff Hutton site and worked in our preschool for 5 years. In July 2022, she moved across to our new nursery in Malton, and now leads a new team of people in our Malton preschool room. Preeya has years of early years’ experience, having worked in the early years’ classroom at a local primary school before joining Puddleducks. Preeya ensures that our preschool is a vibrant and fun place for children to spend their final year with us before moving to school.


Preeya recently joined our management team at Malton, she now works alongside Lindsey and Rose to ensure the smooth running of the nursery.
