Edge Grove Nursery is part of Edge Grove, a leading co-educational prep school in the village of Aldenham, Hertfordshire. Parents can drop off their children from 8:00am, with breakfast available at no extra charge from 8:00 - 8:30am. All nursery pupils attend for five morning sessions per week, and most also stay for afternoon sessions until 3:30pm. A late stay option is also available, with care up until 6.00pm.

The nursery offers a warm, child-centred environment where children are supported to develop their skills, confidence and independence. The happiness, health, safety and emotional wellbeing of each child are at the heart of all the team do as they nurture character, individuality and social skills. The team, that includes two teachers as well as learning assistants, offer a variety of activities as well as allowing independent choice. There are additional lessons with specialist teachers from the Prep School that include Forest School, Performing Arts and PE.

Nursery children enjoy the best of both worlds - being in their own home-from-home environment in the dedicated Nursery building in Aldenham Village but also being part of the main Edge Grove School, visiting the 60 acre main school site (travelling on the Edge Grove "rocket" - minibus!) for their specialist lessons, and for their weekly story time with the Head, Ed Balfour.

My child was very happy and well looked after at the Edge Grove Nursery. The staff are fantastic and so nurturing, and the facilities are brilliant. My child learnt a lot through classroom lessons, forest school and play setting her up very well for school.

Our daughter joined at the start of the summer term, and within days was flourishing. The staff are excellent and attentive to every child's needs and interests, the facilities are superb, and the relationship with the Junior Department at school made the transition this term seamless. Watching our
daughter grow and develop was a pleasure. Her confidence in numbers and writing grew instantly in a structured environment. And the personal development and interaction with staff and fellow children was lovely to see. Edge Grove is a wonderful Nursery, I just wish we'd moved our daughter there earlier!

From the moment our little one joined, it was evident this was a nurturing environment that truly cares for the well-being and development of each child.

Everything about the nursery is awesome. The staff are amazing, nurturing and really care for your child and their development. The facilities are designed for learning but also have big open spaces to allow the children to play outdoors. I would definitely recommend the nursery to anyone looking to
join the school. The only thing that would make this perfect was if there were some allowances for government funding to subsidise the cost at this stage.

Our son joined Edge Grove Nursery in September 2022 and is now in reception. The nursery is wonderfully run and the teachers are very nurturing, caring and kind. They treated our son with the utmost love, care and respect and we will be eternally indebted to them. The facilities are great especially
the outdoor area where our son spent most of his time. I could not recommend Edge Grove Nursery enough. If you are looking for a nursery that is great at communicating with children and parents, a nursery that is focussed on child development and is a place where your child can play and express themselves openly then this is the right place for your little one.

We can't speak highly enough of Edge Grove Nursery after sending our 2 daughters in subsequent years there. We couldn't be more thankful for the continued development and nourishment they've given to our daughters. Our daughter is genuinely excited to attend and they have the most excellent time each
and every day. It's important to have a nursery you can trust and Edge Grove provides that. I'll never know how they get the children to line up in a single file, I can't even do it with my own children. Huge shoutout to 7 members of staff in particular.

The nursery is well run and the lovely staff are really accommodating of children's and parents' needs. There are lots of fun, educational activities and the facilities are impressive.
Our daughter loves going on the minibus to forest school and PE at the main school site and comes home full of stories
of her day.
The children play outside every day and have healthy snacks.

I have been practising in Early Years education for 14 years - all of them at Edge Grove School, both in our Junior Department as a Reception Class Teacher and latterly as Head of Early Years based at Edge Grove Nursery.


Every day in the Early Years is different. The children come in with big smiles on their faces ready to tackle the day ahead. Our learning is child-centred. It could be as simple as a child bringing in an acorn that they found at the weekend and then our whole morning or day will be based around an acorn, which leads to life cycles, seasons and outdoor learning to name a few.


The best thing about working at Edge Grove Nursery is that we are a part of the prep school. Although we are located a short walk away from the main site, we ensure that we make regular visits to the "big school" so the children see the wider community of which they are a part. The children really enjoy getting on the minibus up to 'big Edge Grove'. We also have an amazing green just across the road from our Nursery that we use regularly for 'school trips' for the littlest members of the Edge Grove community.

Working at Edge Grove has provided me the opportunity to bear witness to the wonder of learning every day. The nurturing and supportive environment, along with a strong sense of community, create a supportive atmosphere where every child is encouraged to thrive.

I have always worked in Early Years and its definitely where my heart is. Watching the children learning new things every day, being able to be creative in everything we do and having such a wonderful team to work with are just a few of the things I love about my job.


In my experience working at Edge Grove the one thing I love is that it feels like one big community. Days such as Speech Day, the Christmas Fair and the many performances put on by the children are so special.

After graduating from North London Collegiate school, Nicole achieved a BA (Hons) degree in Philosophy and Theology from Nottingham University and QTS through LSJS. Before qualifying as a teacher, Nicole embarked on a career in theatre marketing consultancy for 10 years, working across a portfolio of clients specialising in children's theatre including Dreamworks Theatricals' Shrek The Musical, an adaptation of Jacquiline Wilsons' Hetty Feather, Julia Donaldson's The Scarecrows' Wedding and Dr Seuss' Seussical the Musical, to name a few.


Nicole utilised the time during Covid-19 to follow her dream of working in education, and gained invaluable EYFS experience working across the Reception classrooms at Haberdashers' Girls School, before qualifying as an early years teaching specialist at Sacks' Morasha school in Finchley. Following these experiences, Nicole set up her own tutoring facility, inspiring homeschooled children ages 4-11 to love and engage with academics in a nurturing and fun environment. Nicole joined Edge Grove in 2024 as an EYFS teacher and specialist. She brings her love of academics and enthusiasm for learning to the children in her care, helping them to construct a strong foundation to build upon throughout their school careers, whilst nurturing the abilities and needs of each individual.
