Heathcote House, in the heart of Devizes, is a happy, nurturing and stimulating Nursery, Pre-School and Baby Care setting for children from 3 months to 5 years old. A true home from home, the bright and spacious purpose-built rooms are furnished in a way that is familiar and comforting, and there is a real focus on sustainability and the use of natural resources.

Highly experienced Early Years staff support and challenge the children as they learn through play, helping them develop a wide range of skills, from making friends and sharing in the younger rooms, to phonics and mark making with the pre-schoolers.

A highlight of the Nursery is its extensive outdoor space. Children spend lots of time in the fresh air, running around, having fun and building gross motor skills on the play equipment, and using their imaginations in a whole range of role-playing activities.

The beautiful woodland area is particularly popular, and supports the Nursery's focus on understanding the natural world. Children can be found playing hide and seek, creating art from leaves and sticks, and learning about how to grow food in the raised beds.

Heathcote House Nursery is open from 7.45am-6pm.

My daughter enjoys going to nursery, the staff are amazing and show genuine care for the children. They keep in communication if needed, show support when a child may need additional help and always met with a smile and positive attitude. The children do fun activities and make the most of their outdoor
space. I would highly recommend it to all parents.
It would be nice to have a communication platform, and not just social media for photos.

We've recently switched from another nursery and we're very happy we made the move. The outside facilities are fantastic - the children go outside every day come rain or shine which we love. The staff are very interactive and have recently initiated potty training. A wonderful nursery!

A well-run nursery with pleasant staff. Good range of activities. Always great to do more/learn more but we accept that is challenging with so many. Fees have increased which is clearly never ideal, this was however communicated well.
Always met with a smile and feel that staff have taken it upon themselves
to get to know our daughter. Would recommend it to others who are seeking a nursery in the local area.

Our son has complex medical needs, so I was dreading finding him a nursery. The manager instantly put me at ease and assured me that Heathcote House could support my child. Since he started in February, the baby team have been amazing, really accommodating and provide excellent care. They take their
time at the end of a busy day to do an extensive handover. I couldn't be happier with the nursery and staff. My child is thriving and happy.

My child has been at Heathcote for seven months and she loves it. I was concerned she would struggle to settle in as she has always been very attached to me, but within only a week she was holding out her arms to her key worker. I was pleased to find that all staff there knew her name, not just those
in the baby room. I have been delighted to attend a Christmas 'party' and Mother's Day 'brunch' at the nursery, and see first-hand how happy she is in the setting.
Heathcote House has recently become part of Wishford Education group and there have already been some tangible benefits, without unexpected fee rises. There is a long-term programme of planned works including redecoration inside and development of the outdoor areas. I believe this means the best of both worlds - the friendly, homely atmosphere of an independent with the professional management and investment of a group behind it.
Most importantly, the staff clearly care about the children. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.489)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.489) out of 10 for Heathcote House Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.610 for Heathcote House Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (40 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 59 Ratings = 4.61

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.879 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Heathcote House Nursery is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 number of registered child places is 13.2. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 13.2 = 0.379

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
