The Nursery at St Augustine's Priory welcomes boys and girls from 2 years 8 months to 4 years old moving into Reception either here at St Augustine's Priory school or elsewhere.

The setting is very unique with ample space and highly qualified teachers. There is an outdoor playground dedicated to the Nursery, lots of facilities and unique areas for play, learning, reading, snack time and socialisation inside and use of 13 acres of beautiful grounds. The grounds include a farm with lots of animals, orchard, meadows, forest school, sports' facilities gardens, children's stage, mud kitchen to learn about nature and science, and more. Ballet is also offered. A refectory serves hot meals and there is a dedicated school nurse on hand.

The Nursery follows the EYFS curriculum and staff to child ratios exceed legislative requirements. Prep I provision is Outstanding (ISI Inspection Report November 2021) an the School was rated "excellent" in both academic and personal development. The most recent Catholic Schools Inspectorate report graded the school "outstanding" in all areas (June 2023).

Both of my daughters attended the SA Nursery and I couldn't recommend it more. My daughters are both very different and their needs were met and our expectations exceeded with both girls. The staff are incredible, dedicated, caring and committed. I am also the deputy head of a Primary school so understand
education, with high expectations of my own. I cannot recommend it more, they were so lucky to have had such a wonderful start to school life.

Thank you very much for your review and recommendation. We are delighted to hear that your daughters' time here was fruitful, provided a positive start to school life, and that your expectations were exceeded. Our goal is to collaborate with parents as much as possible to align with every child and every family's needs. It was truly rewarding to see your girls flourish during their time here and to observe their growing confidence. Your feedback, both as a parent and as a professional in the education sector, is very much appreciated and we wish your daughters all the very best for the future.

My daughter attended St Augustine's Nursery from Jan 2021- July 2022 and thrived in their supportive environment. I wanted her first school experience to be a very positive one to help develop a love for learning and the wonderful teachers at the nursery definitely achieved this. I did not then hesitate
to send my son to the nursery when he was 3 years old. Having been with St Augustine's for 18 months he has grown in confidence and has started reception with all the skills needed for a strong start at his new school. I look forward to returning again with my youngest daughter next year!

Our son attended St Augustine's Priory Nursery over an 18-month period ending in July 2024. We would wholeheartedly recommend this excellent nursery. It benefits from being part of the wider school campus and all the facilities the school possesses, so the children can enjoy the farm, the play areas
and all the space that St Augustine's Priory has to offer.
The teachers are excellent and the atmosphere is kind, nurturing and encouraging. Our son thrived here and seeing the kids perform the Nativity was one of the highlights of our year.

Thank you for your positive recommendation and for sharing your feedback on our grounds, facilities, staff and nursery atmosphere. Our ethos strongly supports a nurturing environment that develops the whole child and builds confidence through specialist music, drama and PE lessons; the Nativity is also a highlight for us! The farm instils in pupils the importance of caring for and respecting all living things. We were so proud to be part of your son's academic journey and see him transition smoothly to Reception.

Our twin boys attended the nursery at St Augustine's between May 2023 and August 2024. We were incredibly happy with our experience there. The staff were caring, dedicated and skilled and gave our boys a lot of personal attention. The boys very quickly created a close bond with one of the teachers and
this helped them settle in with (relative) ease. The outside space is lovely, and the boys often visited the on-site farm.
Of course, it is a little more on the expensive side, however, we found that it was better value for money than other local nurseries, especially as the hours offered were much more convenient than the usual 9-12 half days on offer. We went for the 8:30-1 pm option for most days, which was perfect as the boys would come home after lunch to nap. As they got older they were in until 3.30 on some days, with the option of a great after-school care provision whenever we needed it.

Thank you so much for your thorough review of our nursery. We are so pleased that your boys enjoyed their time with us and the additional facilities available including the outdoor space. We aim to be as flexible as possible and to work with parents to provide the hours of care that best suit the family. It was a pleasure to see the boys thrive during their time with us and watch them gain confidence for the onward transition to Reception.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (9.026) out of 10 for St Augustine's Priory Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.851 for St Augustine's Priory Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (40 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 47 Ratings = 4.851

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.175 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Augustine's Priory Nursery is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 number of registered child places is 5. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 5 = 0.8

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
