We are looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic Nursery Manager to join Yellow Penguin Day Nursery in Edgbaston and drive quality improvement across the setting.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience within a nursery leadership role (ideally as a Nursery Manager, Deputy Manager or similar)
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of EYFS, Safeguarding, and the wider legislative requirements for working with children
  • Energy, enthusiasm, and the ability to build strong working relationships with your staff team, parents and external partners

This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.

What you’ll be doing

  • The day-to-day management of the nursery including quality improvement, administration, adhering to the policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with all legislation
  • Lead the staff team to ensure the highest quality practice . Staff supervisions, training, inductions, and assistance with recruitment.
  • Act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead at the nursery, holding overall responsibility for safeguarding and child protection matters and referrals
  • Ensure all policies, procedures and regulatory requirements are implemented and complied with at all times.
  • Ensure the nursery is a safe and welcoming environment for all and complies with all relevant legislation,
  • Deliver outstanding learning opportunities and exceptional care.
  • Responsible at all times for high standards of care and education of children between 3 months to 5 years in accordance with statutory requirements
  • To keep a high organised standard of the day-to-day management, staffing, organisation and smooth running of the Nursery. To develop the ethos of the nursery and to create a welcoming and family friendly environment.
  • Be prepared for Ofsted and ready to represent the setting in a professional manner.
  • Building relationships with parents, encouraging input of ideas and suggestions, using questionnaires and other communications to support the continuous improvement of the nursery
  • Manage the capacity and occupancy levels, follow up on all enquiries for childcare places, including booking parents’ tours around the nursery.
