A Nursery Practitioner is a capable individual responsible and caring for children and maintaining a high-quality, stimulating learning environment. They are warm and responsive, working flexibly and effectively as part of a team to ensure the smooth running of the nursery.
The job responsibilities will involve creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all children and showing awareness of our policies and procedures, ensuring these are followed.
They have to share the responsibility for the welfare of all children in the nursery, follow systems to ensure consistent, high-quality care, and be vigilant and protect children from harm or abuse, reporting any concerns immediately – according to our child protection and whistleblowing policies.
The personal qualities we are looking for; to be reliable and punctual, develop genuine bonds with the key children and support colleagues to fulfil their key person responsibilities sensitively. They should reflect on practice and daily routines, tailoring them to meet each child's individual needs throughout the day. The Practitioner will need to contribute to observations and the assessment of children's learning and development by maintaining a good liaison with the line manager to ensure children's records are kept up to date. The Practitioner must be always professional and a good role model for the children and other staff members. They must communicate effectively, share information, participate in meetings and respect and value all colleagues, children and parents, encouraging a positive and diverse working environment.
