The Nursery Manager will be responsible for the welfare, learning and development of children attending Twinkle Totz Day Nursery. 

Purpose of the Job: 

· To be the leader of the Nursery team

· To ensure a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children in the nursery. 

· To take responsibility for the safeguarding of all children in the nursery. 

· To work with initiative and creativity to foster an environment that encourages the children's all-round development. 

· To manage and support personnel within the nursery. 

· To implement the daily routine in the nursery.

Main duties: 

· To develop and provide an inclusive and effective, high quality learning approach, including working with families.

· To openly support other Twinkle Totz sites and Managers when needed.

· To ensure all Ofsted Welfare requirements are met and working to meet Good/Outstanding inspection grading.

· To be responsible for ensuring that provisions are running effectively and be prepared (where necessary) for Children’s Centre inspections as well as Nursery Inspections at any time, offering support where necessary.

· To develop a strategy with key partners in the Children’s Centres to ensure a consistent and coherent framework for the Early Years provision, in line with a vision of achieving excellent outcomes for young children and their families.

· To work with practitioners to model excellence so that the children achieve well in all areas of their development, including their social, emotional, physical and intellectual well-being.

· To work with early years professionals to draw up long term and short term curriculum plans which ensure that each child is working towards early learning goals.

 To work with practitioners to implement systems of observation and record keeping so that children’s achievements and progress are effectively and regularly assessed; to monitor the effectiveness of assessment procedures.

· To ensure that two year progress checks are carried through systematically.

· To organise the key person system and to effectively supervise staff on a daily basis. 

· To participate in staff appraisal and supervisions and to identify in-service training needs.

· To ensure records and display boards are properly maintained e.g. daily attendance register, accident and incident book and the parent’s notice boards.

· To liaise closely with parents, informing them about the nursery, exchanging information about their children’s progress and encouraging parents’ involvement. 

· To collate parents views and opinions of the Nursery effectively and use these as appropriate to modify provision. 

· To ensure that the nursery is a safe environment for children, staff and others, that equipment is safe, standard of hygiene are high, safety procedures are implemented at all times and fire drills are regularly practiced.

· To support all nurseries with marketing to recruit new children.

· To contribute to and ensure the implementation of the nursery’s policies and procedures. To ensure policies, especially those on equal opportunities and radicalisation, are adapted according to the new framework, and Ofsted requirements

· To ensure all safeguarding training is attended (four children’s centre safeguarding training sessions are scheduled throughout the year).

· To ensure implementation of the Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) 

· To encourage and support continuous professional development for each member of staff
