You will join us as the Kitchen Assistant at our 131-place Julia Durbin  Day Nursery in Oxford on a part-time basis (30 hours a week), all-year-round.  Your usual working hours will be 12:00-18:00pm Monday-Friday. However, when one of the Cooks are on leave you will 'step-up' to resume responsibility for their role and in these instances you may be required to work an earlier shift, so we are seeking someone who is able to be flexible with working hours.

We are seeking a very special person to join us in this role.  Someone who:

• Has experience of preparing raw-ingredients in-line with a set menu, in a professional kitchen environment.
• Champions healthy eating and enjoys working in a busy, team-orientated environment.
• Can work in partnership with the cook to maintain a clean, safe and tidy kitchen, will effectively implement appropriate COSHH and allergy management protocols, and follow instruction from internal and external professionals to maintain a 5-star food hygiene rating.
• Has the confidence and competence to successfully resume responsibility for all food preparation and cooking in the absence of the nursery cook/chef.
• Will engage in domestic duties within the nursery that are typically related to the children's mealtimes (for example, cleaning the milk kitchen, washing and folding bibs/flannels/aprons, re-stocking hand towels, emptying bins after mealtimes etc).

This role involves 'stepping-up' in the absence of one the cooks/chefs to take on additional food preparation and cooking duties.  We are, therefore, seeking someone with current/very recent experience of cooking in a professional capacity.
