JOB OVERVIEW

What is the purpose of the job?

To provide the highest level of care and education for children attending the nursery in line with the EYFS planning and requirements.

What do you have to achieve?

  • The individual needs of children are identified and met.
  • Nursery policies, procedures and operational practices are adhered to at all times.
  • Positive working relationships with children, staff, parents and carers.

KEY TASKS

  • Provide a positive practice role model to ensure that the nursery values are maintained.
  • Ensure that equality of access and opportunity is afforded to all staff, parents and children.
  • Supervise and support children at all times.
  • Contribute to maintaining an attractive and welcoming environment.
  • Prepare and supervise activities.
  • Read, understand and implement all nursery policies, procedures and operational practices.
  • Ensure that practice and provision in the nursery meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • Ensure that any changes to policies, procedures and operational practices are adhered to within the required timescale.
  • Notify the line manager of any concerns or issues regarding nursery policies, procedures and operational practices.
  • Maintain a positive attitude at all times with children, parents visitors and work colleagues.
  • Ensure confidentiality, where appropriate, is maintained.
  • Attend regular staff meetings, planning meetings and undertake training as required.
  • Work as part of a team to ensure that the nursery’s values are maintained.
  • Carry out observations on the children and linking their development to the areas of learning.
  • Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by line management.
  • Ensure children are kept safe and you understand and follow the safeguarding policy and procedure.

Health and Safety

  • Undertake a shared responsibility for health safety and cleanliness throughout the nursery.
  • Adhere to all health and safety policy and procedures.
  • Be fully aware of all emergency and security procedures.
  • To carry out any risk assessments necessary throughout the day.

Salary: Starting at £22,000 for a level 2 per year. £25,000 for a level 3 per year

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Schedule:

Shift patterns 7:45-5, 8-5:15, 8:30-5:45 and 9-6:15

Experience:

  • Childcare: 1 year (preferred)

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Any recognised childcare level 3 qualification as per government guidelines and accompanying experience caring for children under 5 years.
