We are seeking an energetic, enthusiastic and resilient practitioner to join our community provision. Successful candidates would be able to demonstrate their ability to provide high quality care alongside effective play and learning opportunities for children aged 0 - 5yrs within the framework of our policies and procedures. The role includes:

·  Ensuring that national standards around health and safety and safeguarding measures are upheld.

·  Working within the framework of the settings policies and procedures. 

·  Responsible for the supervision of children and ensuring spaces are welcoming, safe and support learning and development.

·  Ensure high levels of care and safety are maintained throughout the day.

·  Responsible for the safety and welfare of children on site, during visits, field trips and visits to other offsite play organisations. This also includes collecting children from school and delivering them safely to parents/carers.

·  Ensuring opportunities are present for children to be part of inclusive play.

·  Reinforcing positive behaviour and values within the setting.

·  Providing refreshments and ensuring that dietary, hygiene, health and safety standards are met.

·  Setting up play spaces for all ages including moving furniture and play equipment. 

·  Administering first aid when necessary. 

·  Consulting with children and involving them in planning activities. 

·  Helping with administration where necessary, such as recording observations.

·  Encouraging parental involvement in the club. 

·  Facilitating good communication with all members of the organisation, parents/carers, and schools. 

Skills / Qualifications:

  • • Experience in working with 0-5-year olds.
  • • Appropriate Level 3 qualification (or equivalent).
  • • Good understanding and application of the EYSF
  • Development Matters and other standards within a childcare setting.
  • • Appropriate child protection training.
  • • Competent in using IT to support play and administration.
  • • Understanding of the varied needs of children and their families.
  • • Understanding the issues involved in the delivery of quality play and learning opportunities.
  • • Good communication skills.
  • • Ability to work as a team member and use own initiative.
  • • Sound judgement and common sense.
  • • Good understanding and use of English.
