Nursery Practitioner 

A full-time permanent position has become available for a Child Development Officer (Nursery Practitioner) to join our staff team. The candidate must have a minimum of two years post qualification experience, successful candidates will be working with children from 6 weeks to 5 years.

Applicants for the above post should have a minimum qualification of HNC or SVQ Level 3 equivalent qualification in Children & Education with appropriate experience in Nursery Education.

Experience of delivering Curriculum for Excellence and Pre-Birth to Three is essential with a working and in-depth knowledge of Building the Ambition and GIRFEC.

The successful candidate will be required to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). This post is considered Regulated Work with Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. It is an offence, therefore, to apply if you are barred from working with children.

We can’t do this without you, so we’re looking for a talented Child Development Officer (experienced qualified practitioner) who shares our values to join our friendly team at Mulberry Kindergarten. You will be at least a Level 3 Qualified Practitioner who has post qualification experience, passion and enthusiasm to complement our existing team of experienced childcare practitioners.

 

About Mulberry Kindergarten

Mulberry Kindergarten was established since 1991. We have 6 large bright and welcoming rooms for children. These rooms are all on different levels and offer outdoor space off each room to allow free flow play. We also always have a large back garden to enable all age groups to access the garden. Mulberry Kindergarten is ideally situated within proximity to train stations and regular bus routes into Glasgow city centre.


Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure the quality of childcare within a room/ area
  • Ensuring stimulating and inspiring activities are provided for the children in the room/ area
  • Ensure the learning journals are always up to date.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Coach and mentor practitioners to deliver high quality childcare

You need:

  • You will have the passion and enthusiasm to complement our existing team of experienced child care practitioners.
  • You will have knowledge of current pre-birth to three and the curriculum for excellence as well as previous experience of working with children under 5.
  • You will have a full and relevant HNC or SVQ in Childcare & Education or on hold an NNEB.
  • You will also be required to register within 6 months of your start date with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
