Contract type:  Condensed week: 5 days work done in four days; 8am – 6pm, Monday to Thursday, 49 weeks of the year

Contract Term: Permanent

We are looking to appoint an inspirational Teacher (QTS) to join our dedicated nursery team four days a week, 8am to 6pm. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced teacher to shape pedagogy within our setting, and maintain the excellent standard of early years education we offer.

Established in 1991, Little Angels consists of two privately owned settings, each with approximately 70 places for children aged 5 months to 5 years. We have a dedicated Pre-School classroom, with class sizes of approximately 16 - 20 children, aged 3 to 5 years. The teacher is over and above the ratio and works alongside one to two members of staff and in partnership with a second teacher. The nursery is well resourced and has large outdoor spaces which offer a range of opportunities for exploration, investigation and play.

Job Outline

The role involves working with our other Teacher and the wider team to lead pedagogy in the setting; planning and implementing a curriculum based on the EYFS which supports children’s learning and development. The teacher works within a small teaching team across the setting to ensure effective implementation of our play based, child-led curriculum throughout the nursery. In addition to planning and directing sessions in a dedicated space, responsibilities may include attending weekly planning meetings, assisting with INSET training days, maintaining children’s folders, one to one reading and Read Write Inc. Phonics sessions, carrying out children’s observations on Famly and writing transfer records. The teacher will also be expected to assist practitioners, maintain best practice and encourage sustained shared thinking between adults and children.

Above all, we are looking for a creative and innovative teacher with a passion for learning.

You must have QTS to be considered for this position, and an excellent command of written and spoken English.

We can offer:

Holiday:

Little Angels is open 49 weeks of the year (the nursery is closed for two weeks at Christmas and one at Easter)

o   Christmas and Easter are paid in full (pro-rated the number of days worked), as well as any remaining bank holidays.

o   An additional 3 weeks holiday, which can be taken in week long blocks or as individual days during summer and term time (pro rata the number of days worked)

o   All non-contact time and curriculum planning are carried out within working hours.

·       Ongoing professional development opportunities and the chance to be part of a dynamic leadership team

·       Complimentary childcare place for one child during the teacher’s working hours

·       Business parking by arrangement

·       School meals cooked by our chef on site

The teacher would have to be available to attend Parents’ Evenings twice a year and all INSET days; five per year with time off in lieu if they fall on a non-working day.
