About the School - Colchester Prep and High School
Colchester Prep & High School was founded in 1882 by Ferdinand
Greene as a 'most desirable establishment for young ladies', providing
a 'sound English education'. Over the past 140 years Colchester Prep
& High School has built up a reputation for providing an excellent
all-round education whilst preparing our pupils for life beyond
school. Today that reputation still stands.
Through our inspiring teaching and forward thinking STEAM
curriculum, we build in our pupils, ages 2 to 16, the confidence,
self-belief and strength of character to achieve their full potential
whilst nurturing in them a global perspective and mindfulness for
social responsibility which will last throughout their lives. It is a
community focused on creating the "Changemakers of Tomorrow's
World". In line with our School Motto "God First, Others
Second, Self Last" we pride ourselves on our friendly and caring
close-knit environment, which encourages good manners, consideration
for other people and a strong sense of social responsibility among our pupils.
The school now has an exciting opportunity for an
experienced Nursery Practitioner to join our
fantastic team.

About the role
As a Nursery Practitioner, you will play a vital role in
creating a safe, secure, and stimulating environment for children aged
2 and above. Working closely with the Nursery Manager, you will help
promote high standards of quality in all aspects of the nursery
setting, from the resources provided to the experiences and activities
offered to the children. Your responsibilities will include acting as
a key person for a group of children, carrying out planning,
observations, and assessments, and ensuring that each child's
development is closely monitored. You will foster strong relationships
with parents and carers, ensuring open communication and a shared
approach to each child's progress. Your role will also involve
supporting the smooth transition of children to their next educational
setting and contributing to the development of good practices in
inclusion. Additionally, you will have a key role in safeguarding
children, liaising with external agencies when necessary, and ensuring
the nursery adheres to all statutory and regulatory requirements.
This is a permanent, full-time role needed during term time.
Who we are looking for:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Nursery
Practitioner who has a Level 3 qualification in Early Years and
Childcare (or equivalent) and a solid understanding of the Early Years
Foundation Stage (EYFS). All applicants who have completed their
qualification after September 2014 must have achieved a GCSE grade C
or above in Maths and English. You will have proven experience working
in a nursery setting, with excellent communication skills and the
ability to work effectively as part of a team. A proactive, can-do
attitude, a sense of humor, and a commitment to the wellbeing of
children are essential. You will be passionate about providing
high-quality care and education, as well as promoting good practice
and inclusion. We are looking for someone who can build strong
relationships with children, parents, and colleagues while ensuring
the nursery environment remains safe, stimulating, and supportive for
all involved.
