Preschool children at Bright Horizons Bruntsfield Nursery in Edinburgh have been learning more about the Muslim tradition of Ramadan which began for 2017 last week.

As they discovered the fasting tradition that comes with Ramadan, the children were each asked to write on a star which food or drink they would like to give up. They were also asked to draw a picture of that food or drink to develop their artistic skills.

“They all learned that Fatima, one of our staff members, cannot have food or drinks during the day and can only eat at night,” said Nursery Manager Karen Bell. “The children have been really excited and have been telling parents what they have decided to give up in which parents have also said they will take part.”
