A new garden geared towards offering babies their first taste of outdoor exploration has been created at the Mama Bear’s Day Nursery on Downend Road.
The nursery, which caters for children aged three months to five years, is surrounded by an extensive mature walled-garden with an all-weather playground to the rear, including a pirate ship.
The garden, which has previously been more suited to toddlers and pre-school children, now also features a brand- new baby garden with children up to two-years-old in mind.
The all-weather surfacing has been used with astroturf in place of grass so babies can crawl and explore the outside environment safely. Age appropriate toys have also been added to spark children’s imagination and curiosity.
Hollie Redish, manager of Mama Bear’s Downend nursery said: “It is wonderful to have our new baby garden open just in time for the warmer weather. It is so important for babies, and all our children, to have the opportunity to play outdoors as much as possible and the new garden will certainly encourage this.
“We are very lucky with the extensive outdoor space we have at our nursery. Housed in a converted Victorian vicarage, the whole setting is designed to be a stimulating place of discovery.”
The Downend Road nursery was previously tailored for over-threes following the launch of the group’s baby unit on Coronation Road. However, following the change in government funding, demand for pre-school places grew and both nurseries converted to accepting babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers.
Hollie continued: “Our dedicated baby rooms, which were launched last November, are fantastic and now the new garden is the icing on the cake.
“We can cater for nine babies at a time but we are close to capacity so if you are interested in looking around please visit soon.”
Mama Bear’s is a family-run nursery group offering high-quality, affordable care across the South West.
