It is one of only 44 organisations and the only early years group to receive this award.

The ‘Teach to Reach’ programme, introduced in 2016, recognises the importance of the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) establishing and judging minimum standards in the sector, but in addition celebrates the greater emphasis now being placed on wellbeing and the importance of communication and language skills for the very young.

The training is undertaken on INSET days in order to reach whole teams.

The awards which celebrate exceptional training and development programmes across the country were presented by HRH Princess Anne at St James’s Palace.

Chris Jones, chief executive of the City and Guilds Group, which organises the awards, said of the award winners: “These remarkable employers demonstrate the power that comes from investing in people and training as a vehicle to strengthen organisations and open up opportunities for people.”

Other award winners were IBM, The Co-Op and Lloyds Banking Group.
