Date: Monday 10 Jul 2017
The Wendy House Day Nursery is crowned Central England’s Nursery of the Year at prestigious national Nursery Awards.
The Wendy House Day Nursery is among the very best early years settings in the UK, scooping a top accolade at the National Day Nurseries Association Nursery Awards.
The nursery in Wythall, Birmingham won Central England Nursery of the Year, triumphing above scores of other entrants to win the prestigious title – presented by TV star and maths legend Johnny Ball.
The NDNA Nursery Awards, sponsored by early years resource provider Hope Education, were announced at a glittering ceremony at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester.
The event was attended by the cream of the nursery sector and followed NDNA’s day-long annual conference.
The expert judging panel was impressed with the nursery’s inclusive and progressive attitude, highlighted through an abundance of open-ended resources, presence of a parent liaison officer and a vibrant and stimulating environment where children can thrive.
The Nursery of the Year category and overall awards were sponsored by Hope Education, a trusted provider of inspirational and innovative resources for early years.
Commenting on the honour, Victoria Vann, Managing Director of The Wendy House, said, “Everyone at The Wendy House has made a contribution to this award and we are proud to be recognised by the NDNA. The award is particularly special because it was voted for by parents and it has made us even more determined to achieve the highest possible standards in early years child care.”
Families whose children attend nurseries also contributed to the judging process by voting for their setting, making the awards the true ‘parents’ choice’.
Shrewsbury Prepatoria Nursery and Pre-School was runner-up in the category and Swineshead Pre-School Centre in Boston was highly commended.
Purnima Tanuku OBE, Chief Executive of NDNA, said: “The judging process was particularly tough this year and glowing testimonies from parents and family members really helped to form the final decisions.
“Congratulations to the team at The Wendy House Nursery who are truly a shining example of the great work happening in nurseries across the country. It’s thoroughly deserved and I am delighted for them.”
