The Mayor of London has introduced a new award scheme to encourage healthy lifestyles for young children and their families. Healthy lifestyles and nutrition are central to our ethos and we are thrilled to be one of the first settings in Havering to achieve the award.

As part of the award, our whole staff team developed an oral hygiene programme for all nursery children along with teaching them about the importance of healthy teeth. We have now embedded this within the practice of our setting and daily supervised toothbrushing, learning about calcium-rich healthy foods and growing our own vegetables are all part of our daily routine.

We have an oral hygiene champion who visits each of the nursery rooms to talk about different foods and why they are good for healthy teeth.
