View Full Details of Meadows NurseryMy son was at the Meadows Nursery from the age of 1 until he went off to school in 2023. Throughout, the nursery has provided the most wonderful care. We always felt happy dropping him off, trusting that he would come back happy after a full day of play, fun, and learning. The nursery staff is an incredible resource, and it was clear right from the start that they genuinely care about the children. The attention paid to individual development and support was really noticeable. Having been at another nursery before joining Meadows, the difference in care and in facilities were remarkable. Although the outdoor space is limited, the nursery makes really good use of the Meadows Park and often goes on trips to the National Museum. Overall, we had a wonderful experience having our son at the Meadows and I can wholeheartedly recommend it.
We can’t fault the Meadows Nursery. Since day one our child has been really well cared for and encouraged to be independent. Having been at another nursery previously, the main difference here is the staff. They focus on learning, exercise, and healthy eating and they genuinely care about providing the best experience for each child. Our child loves going!
My son attended this nursery from nine months old - we left when he was 3 due to a move out of Scotland. The staff were wonderful throughout his time there. They were very caring and nurturing when he was in the baby group which was very reassuring for us given that he was still very young. As he's grown the attention and activities at the nursery have built up his confidence and he absolutely loved his time there. He still talks about his old nursery friends! We found that the size of the nursery (being on the smaller side) ideal and not overwhelming which is a risk with a larger nursery.
Both my girls attended the Meadows Nursery and I cannot recommend them highly enough. All staff are fab, very warm and engaging with the kids. The food is all home cooked and of an excellent variety. My youngest required additional help and support with her speech and language and everyone at the Meadows went to huge lengths to help her, learning new skills to support and enhance her learning and development. It is a well-run business with a focus first and foremost on the health and well-being of the children.
Both of my children attended Meadows Nursery from just over 1 year old. My wife and I were nervous that they were so young but extremely comforted by the caring and generous spirit of the staff at Meadows Nursery. My daughters had a wealth of experiences on a day to day basis with consistency at the heart. I feel like they always were comfortable and secure in their environment. My older daughter learned many skills through her time there, from social skills to motor skills as well as experiencing day trips to interesting and educational locations. My younger daughter gained huge confidence from her time in Meadows Nursery and showed real affection for the staff there. I would highly recommend Meadows Nursery.
My son attended Meadows Nursery for a year until he left for school. We were extremely happy with our choice of nursery - great location, friendly, welcoming and professional staff, good communications, well-planned trips and activities. The nursery is small and this was a good thing for us having also had previous experience of a much larger nursery. Our son was always treated as an individual, not just another kid making up the numbers. 'Forest Schools' was a particular favourite of his from his days at the Meadows: long trips to Blackford Pond exploring the wildlife, taking part in challenges like den building. He still talks about it now!
Our two kids both had a great time here from the age of one up until they left for school. They remember their time, with happy recollections of all the trips, animal visits and especially the Xmas and summer shows. We had a stress free time as parents, knowing the nursery was giving them care to such a great standard. The staff and management were always attentive (to the kids and us), and were professional in dealing with bumps, germs, and misdemeanours. They made the most of the limited outside space available and added local trips, and Forest School days sounded superb. The staff and management made a great job of preparing the kids for school and liaised with the school to ease the transition.
My son attended the Meadows Nursery until July 2017 and thoroughly enjoyed every day he spent there. We were struck by the friendliness and professionalism of the staff from the moment we first visited. Without a doubt, the best option in the area - a truly fantastic nursery which kept our son stimulated, entertained and happy during his time there. If we hadn't have moved out of Edinburgh, then he'd still be there!
My daughter was at Meadows from 9 months old and loved it. The staff were caring and considerate. The nursery organised great activities, particularly the visits to old folks homes. Highly recommend it.
Meadows Nursery is a really good nursery. Children can learn lots of things such as music, painting, dancing and football here. The teachers and staff here are doing their best to build a nice environment for the kids. There are lots of activities and the food there is quite nice and good for the children too. I highly recommend this Nursery.
We were so delighted with the care our son received at The Meadows nursery. Every member of the team knew my son really well, and there was an atmosphere of genuine affection. He was incredibly happy there and was provided with loads of fun activities every day. We were really well informed of his achievements and activities, and the online learning journal was a really nice touch. The nursery is small, but it never seemed crowded, and the staff made it seem much larger with the range of activities. There were occasional nice trips out of the nursery too.
My son has been attending here for 8 months from the age of 11 months. The care he has received is excellent. He took around 6 weeks to settle however I was given lots of advice and reassurance and eventually he became pleased to be dropped off. He loves the staff and is affectionate towards them and seems very confident in himself while he plays here. There is lots of messy play, outdoor play, park visits, and music and stories. He has learned lots of skills and good habits at Meadows - without encouragement from me he washes his hands before meals, puts his bib on and brushes his teeth without fuss. My impression is that this is due to the consistent routine at Meadows. I would highly recommend Meadows to other parents.
My son attended the Meadows nursery for a year from the age of 1 to 2 before we moved out of Edinburgh. We found the staff to be extremely caring and friendly with a real family feel to the nursery. My son particularly enjoyed the play outside on a daily basis, dance and music class and trips to the meadows. We were issued with a log in to a secure website allowing my husband and I to see photos of what he had been up to that day. The staff were excellent at providing end of day reports and regular parents evenings and updates. There were a number of parties for parents and children throughout the year which the children in particular really enjoyed. Overall, the Meadows nursery allowed me to go to work in the knowledge my son was being well looked after and was safe and happy. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the nursery to other parents and carers.
My son and daughter spent, between them, a continuous total of over nine years at Meadows Nursery, overlapping for a week just before he started primary school. My son’s first recognisable word was the name of the same member of staff who went on to become one of my daughter’s favourite teachers at the time of her graduation from Meadows Nursery nearly a decade later. Both of our children thoroughly loved the nursery and were very happy there. We often found ourselves admiring the staff’s affection, resourcefulness and genuine care for all the children. Now in primary two, my daughter recently insisted, during half term, that I should take her on an outing to Blackford Hill, where she used to go to Forest Schools with Meadows Nursery. She was delighted to find that the swing on a tree she remembered so well was still there. After a long time on the swing, she said to me, “That’s one dream come true”, commenting on her return to a spot associated with nursery adventures. There is no other institution we are as grateful to as Meadows Nursery for the wonderful part it played in our children’s earliest years.
The Meadows Nursery is a fantastic nursery offering a very high standard of care by excellent staff. I have had three children attend the Meadows over the past 7 years and can honestly say that I have never had any concerns or issues at any time over that period. The Meadows has consistently managed to attract good staff who are passionate about their work. The Meadows treats each child as an individual and is always ready to try new ideas for activities and themes (usually generated by the children themselves!). All three of our children have loved the nursery. I really cannot recommend it highly enough!
Our daughter spent the last 2 years at Meadows during which time she has blossomed into a confident and independent girl ready for school. In addition to regular care, the nursery are also great at taking the children outdoors as much as possible (making ample use of both the limited outside space as well as the wide expanse of Meadows, forest schools) as well as other activities such as tennis, tatty bumpkins etc. The nursery staff have been fantastic and we felt that they take the time to get to know each child individually and cater to each accordingly. We would definitely recommend the nursery and in fact, are very likely to enroll our younger daughter at Meadows.
Our child has only had the opportunity to be with Meadows nursery for 18 months due to relocating but in this short time we feel he has developed so many new skills and gained confidence. The nursery offers fantastic opportunities such as forest schools and tatty bumpkins, learning languages and tennis as well as your typical arts crafts singing and play. The nursery has a fantastic learning ethos to health and for the environment with fantastic caring staff! We absolutely recommend Meadows nursery in providing a nurturing caring environment for the beginning of a child's education. We feel our child is leaving confident and very well prepared for school with some lovely memories and friends!
