View Full Details of Millennium First Steps NurseryMy child has been going to this nursery since he was nearly 1 and now nearly 3.5 years old. We've especially been impressed recently when he's gone up to the preschool room. The manager and her team are amazing, the rooms have been split up between the younger and older preschoolers, and my child is loving every minute. All the crafts, themes, weekly activities has made my child say " I love preschool" which is something I thought he would never say as he loves being with me so much! the manager is always thinking ahead and how to improve, and had made loads of improvements since she started.
My son has been going to the Millenium First Steps Nursery for nearly a year now (he started in Feb 2024), and he absolutely loves it and has learned a lot there in the last year. The children are well taken care of, there are plenty of activities each week and they provide regular updates including pictures on a daily basis. The nursery is also very well managed and we had a few interactions with the manager who is always opened to feedback and suggestions and takes quick actions. We were initially hesitant to put him there, as it's by the train station car park and not necessarily appealing from the outside but we don't regret our choice. We now have a second child who will also go there later this year.
Lovely nursery with really thoughtful and friendly staff. The Manager is wonderful and always thinking of innovative things to add to what the nursery offers. She is really great with parents and always open to feedback.
My son has been at Millennium First Steps Nursery since November 2022 and we've been very happy with the nursery. The management are excellent and very supportive of parents and children, as well as staff. The team have been great with working through some complex health challenges that we've experienced. The staff are kind and caring and form genuine bonds with the children. The activities are fun and stimulating, my son learns lots. His favourite things are playing in the garden (which has lots of fun equipment and activities) and performing songs in the nursery theatre (each room has a little theatre which he loves). I particularly like that the nursery is so child lead and feel key staff really know and understand my child.
We moved our son to Millennium First Steps from another nursery at the beginning of 2024 and it was the best decision we could have made. From the start, we've been blown away by the individualised, child-centred care. We feel that there has always been a real effort made to understand our son, encourage his interests and help him with challenges. The staff are very caring and nurturing and the manager has gone out of her way to offer support. Another brilliant thing is weekly themes where children explore different aspects of a new topic. I love the tuff trays and activities. Our son comes home telling us what he learnt and singing new songs. We are very happy with the nursery and would highly recommend it.
From the moment we first visited Millennium First Steps Nursery, we were impressed by the welcoming and nurturing atmosphere created by the staff. Management and the broader team are not only highly skilled and experienced but also caring and attentive to each child's individual needs. Communication with the nursery staff has been excellent, with regular updates on my daughter's progress. I feel confident and reassured knowing that my child is in good hands and receiving top-notch care. Overall, I couldn't be happier with the nursery and the positive impact it has had on my daughter's growth and development.
My little girl has been at the nursery for a few years now and we couldn't be happier. Management are fantastic and has implemented some great changes which are reflected in the admin, nursery rooms and educational side of the nursery. The staff are the stand-out element of the nursery. They care so much and build really lovely bonds with the children. I can see the school preparation that is going on in preschool whilst still keeping all the fun. I would most definitely recommend it.
My son has been at Millennium from 11 months and is now 2. We have been delighted with the care he is given at Millennium. All of the staff are so lovely, friendly and caring. They do amazing activities across a variety of relevant topics in a way I could never provide at home. The management team, are incredibly helpful and responsive. We have had advice on behaviour we're struggling with at home and seen an immediate difference. They not only know all the children and their personalities but they are extremely experienced and qualified to provide outstanding care and a supportive learning and development environment. My son loves nursery and has the best time there, I'm so grateful to the whole team for all they do.
Our son has spent a few months in the baby room at Millennium and he's only leaving because we're moving. We've been so happy with the level of care and attention given to our son. All staff were really understanding and supportive during the settling-in period and they'd clearly taken a baby-led approach to ensure the least distress. They've been really accommodating with nap times etc and have encouraged our son's interests. We couldn't be happier! Really sad to leave. Thank you!
We have been so happy with Millennium Nursery! Our son started there when he was one year old after not settling with a childminder. The staff are lovely and put so much time and effort into ensuring he settled and he has since loved going into nursery every day! I love that it’s a big open space and there are always fun activities set up for the children that have lots of thought going into them. They have a separate sleep space for babies with cots and our little boy has always enjoyed the food, there is lots of variation and it’s all healthy and freshly made. The app is great to see how he is getting on in the day and what he’s been up to. We’ve had flexibility when we’ve needed it and lots of support from the manager, communication has been great all round. We’re moving away from Hitchin and we’re so sad to leave - would really recommend as an excellent nursery!
Our 18-month-old didn’t settle with a childminder so we moved her to Millennium a few months ago. It was a great decision! She is now really settled there and seems to love the staff. The staff also seem to really know her and care about her, and they like having her around, which is just really reassuring and lovely. We agreed on a gradual and tailored settling-in plan, and we’ve been kept really well updated on her daily activities and progress. The diary updates on the app are very clear, and we love the photos, especially the Golden Moments. She comes home having learnt new words and songs, and with things she’s made, which is adorable. We feel that the nursery is really well run, and has a positive atmosphere, and we feel safe knowing that she’s there. We would highly recommend Millennium First Steps!
I have been picking up my niece from this nursery once or twice a week, for over a year. It has always been a pleasant place but I must say there has been some Herculean efforts recently that have really raised the bar. The rooms are really clean, spacious and welcoming. The new (ish) manager is fantastic, the team are super friendly and the kids are their priority. My niece lost her favourite teddy a while back and the team went above and beyond to find it for her (which they managed to!). I would 100% recommend this nursery to anyone!
I pick my niece up often and always have a pleasant experience. The staff are friendly and the nursery is clean, tidy and a good environment to learn and have fun! She always comes out with a smile on her face and loves to go back in the morning.
My niece has been going to this nursery for over a year now, she can't get through the door quick enough in the mornings, and I don’t even get a wave goodbye, more so since the management team have been put in place, they have turned the place right around, and it feels warm, cosy and nurturing. I’d love to say a massive thank you to all the staff in my niece's room who make her feel very welcome and take the time out of their day to tell me what she's been up to throughout her days at nursery. I would happily recommend this nursery to all parents.
I pick up my grandaughter twice a week and when I ask her about her day, she is telling me everything and it brings a smile to my face. So by what my granddaughter said, she is loving her time at nursery which I think is the best way to get kids to enjoy school.
I'm really happy with the nursery. I think the manager is really hands-on and really cares about the children; she often sits with my son if he's upset, and that's so nice to know. She is very quick to email me back when I ask anything. My son loves it in there (although he still cries when dropped off!); he seems to have lots of fun in there, and he loves his key person and all the activities/messy play. The only thing I'd say is the app could do with updating, as we don't always get any updates on how he is doing during the day, we sometimes get pictures of him having fun, and that's great.
My granddaughter attends Millennium First Steps Nursery. She used to come home and not talk about nursery at all. Now she tells us of all the exciting things she has done during the day. She especially loves the messy play and tells us how she has mixed paint to make new colours, dug in the soil and covered herself with foam or play dough. This nursery has been completely transformed from what it was, due to the excellent new manager and deputy. They are both proactive, endlessly cheerful, innovative and so helpful. Their love for the children and desire to improve the nursery is obvious. I would recommend this nursery to anyone who wants their children to have fun, learn and be nurtured.
The staff and managers at the nursery itself are lovely. They really care about the children and provide lots of fun activities for them. They communicate well about what the children are doing and are unfailingly kind. They are conscientious about dietary requirements. We have total confidence in the staff. I have given only four stars because there have been some problems with the higher management. For example, parents were not told when key staff were leaving (this has since improved). Bills themselves have sometimes had errors and we have had to re-check ours to avoid paying too much, or too little. The billing team is quick to threaten exclusion if any payments are even slightly late.
Our daughter has been going since she was 9 months old and is now transitioning from the toddler room to the preschool. She absolutely loves it. Each morning she asks if she has nursery. Millennium has been so beneficial for her, helping her grow in confidence and now supporting her speech and her development. Our daughter has glue ear and fluctuating hearing loss but she is treated no differently. Staff have always been amazing and happy to learn and understand more about what they can do to support her in nursery. Our daughter is excited to go to nursery, she looks forward to seeing the staff and her friends she has made at the nursery.
Our two sons love the nursery. They have made close friends and are excited to visit them every morning. The staff are brilliant and listen to our needs. You can also sense that they are wonderful with the children and care about them very much. Although the garden could be bigger, I could not be happier that we chose this nursery. They are economical within the area, conveniently located next to the train station, and of course, a great nursery establishment. Highly recommended!
