View Full Details of YMCA Nursery NewportAlthough we are incredibly happy with the Nursery and the staff are lovely. My Grandson loves going to Nursery. The thing that is most frustrating to nearly all parents I meet waiting is the time it takes to drop off and pick up. 1 child taken and brought out at a time is ridiculous. Each time I have picked my Grandson up I have waited for on average 20 to 25mins. Parents get frustrated especially when a child is brought out then the staff stand and chat with the parent for several minutes before going for another. Can this please be looked into? Many Thanks.
The nursery are absolutely amazing with my little girl! Her confidence has grown massively since starting nursery in January! They are always updating me on how her days are going and if anything new happens! My little girl gets so excited to go in and will go in with open arms to them, some mornings completely forgetting to say 'bye' to me! They are absolutely amazing.
I have both of my children at YMCA Nursery Newport and they have thrived there. They are more than happy to go into nursery, the children are so well cared for. All the staff are so welcoming and my children have built lovely relationships with all of them.
Our little one thoroughly enjoys going to the nursery and the interaction she has with people there. Staff are friendly and very helpful. This is not a negative comment; the nursery needs longer hours. I know a few other people that would use the hours if they became available, considering it's close to the hospital and the amount of shift workers there are. I would suggest a poll and ask clients.
I currently have 2 children at the nursery, one of which has additional health requirements and I can honestly say they have been both supportive and understanding, whilst also providing excellent care. Both my children are absolutely thriving and I truly believe this is down to the fantastic environment they provide. I feel like they look after them like they were their own and never have any doubts leaving them there.
My little boy has been going to YMCA since he was 9 months old and is now nearly 3. We cannot fault the setting at all, they have been amazing and have made sure my little boy thrives. They do a lot of outdoor play and go on walks to the forest and duck pond. He is now in the ladybird room and all the girls are fantastic, there is great communication and my boy adores them! Highly recommend this nursery!
My son attends the YMCA and has done since he was 1 year old, he’s nearly 3 and still struggles at drop off - needing lots of reassurance and kindness to settle. His key workers in both bumblebees and ladybirds have been instrumental in developing his confidence and to see him thrive and hear him talk about his key workers so positively has been joyful. I get regular updates through the app they use so I know that even if he’s been tearful at drop off, 5 minutes later he’s happily playing and laughing. The staff are so patient, kind and caring. I cant recommend them enough. The learning and play he achieves at nursery and applies at home is amazing to see, and he only attends one morning a week!
I cannot fault YMCA Newport nursery, they have been amazing with my son from day one. My little boy has shown signs of autism and the nursery have done everything they can to help him and support him and set him up to go to school when he’s ready. I would highly recommend this nursery to anyone, so thank you.
My son started nursery at six months old, he is now two and a half and has thus been in both the Bumblebees and Ladybirds groups. He loves coming to nursery, which is certainly credit to the really fun, caring and well trained staff and all the exciting activities the kids get up to every day. My son is thriving so much, coming home with newly learnt words pretty much every day. From a parent point of view, I like that the setting is still a size where we know pretty much all of the staff and they know us/my son. Everyone is very helpful and the team leaders, office staff and nursery manager are always approachable. You can really tell that everyone has the kids' best interests and their development at heart. Highly recommended!!!
My daughter has been going here since she was 1. The rooms are separated into each age group, bumblebees, ladybirds and grasshoppers. My daughter has loved each one. The staff are amazing and are always there to offer support when needed. I was really worried about my child starting due to postnatal depression, and they were happy for me to ring up as many times a day as I liked until I settled into the routine too. Mine is now in grasshoppers; she has made some great friends and looks forward to going each day. They have excellent outdoor space and go on little outings to the duck pond and around the grounds, which is one of the reasons I also really like it. Just wish I'd found out about this nursery for my other children as my youngest daughter definitely gets more from this setting than my others did at the one I used with them. The value for money is also great, and you are advised at the cheapest option for your needs and can include lunches or not. Discount for NHS staff too!
My daughter has now been attending for this last couple of months, and she absolutely loves it. The staff are caring, friendly and engaging. The facilities are outstanding. The development I have seen in my daughter in the short time she has been there is incredible. I highly recommend this nursery.
My daughter attends YMCA Newport and has gone since around 2 years old. She absolutely loves attending and is always happy to go and misses it when she doesn't. The facilities are great; the outdoors space is brilliant and my daughter spends most her time out there if she can. The staff are caring and approachable. My daughter struggles with speech and is under speech and language and the staff supports her and give her 1-1 time to help and encourage her.
Both my children have attended YMCA Newport nursery and we are extremely happy with the care they provide. The team are fantastic, approachable and communication is very open with every member of staff we have had contact with. My children have thoroughly enjoyed the activities provided regularly, along with the special themed events; even the normal day to day aspects are fun, educational and incorporate all the children's needs. The garden space is plentiful and I'm always jealous of their 'campfire' sessions! On an administrative side of things, any query I have had has been resolved quickly, professionally and personally. We will be sad to no longer need their services later this year.
My daughter has been going to this nursery since she was 9 months (she is now 3 and a half) I have been overly pleased with each room and the care and activities given to my daughter. The staff are all super friendly and always check in on how we as a family are doing (considering the current situation). The staff are very helpful with any queries I have had previously. My daughter always comes home super happy about her day at nursery. There is now a Facebook page specifically for the Newport nursery which is nice as staff upload pictures of what the children have been up to and as a parent I can add what we have done at home, also nice as you can talk to other parents too. I always know what my daughter is up to with "parentmail" and this includes things I can do at home with her which links into the weekly planning in the nursery.
Both my boys attend YMCA and they absolutely love it! The staff provide so many great opportunities for the children and themes are well planned across the different rooms. The outside space is well used, much to my boys' delight and the children even go on forest walks, to the duck pond, and to see emergency vehicles to name a few. The manager and her team are brilliant and we have a really good relationship with them all. We love seeing photos of what the boys get up to on the ParentZone app, and communication is good between nursery and home.
My son started at YMCA at 10 months old, and has recently left to go to school, my daughter is now there and has been since 12 months old, now aged 2. The nursery has been a huge part of our lives for coming up to 5 years. It feels like an extended family. Our children have both adored it, they can't wait to go. The staff are incredible, so kind, caring and fun! They treat our children like their own, full of love and cuddles and genuine care. The nursery has been our absolute constant over this pandemic year. Always there, putting safety first but always ensuring that the fun and care and sense of normality for the children remains. Our children have both formed such strong attachments to staff and that has been so important this year when they haven't been able to see extended family. The range of activities and learning opportunities is amazing. The outside space is just the best and is what drew us to the nursery in the first place. They use it in all weathers which we love!
My little girl has loved being part of the YMCA family and is always so excited to go to see her friends. The staff are second to none and are amazing. The outside space they have is something that confirmed this was the place for my little girl to gain the skills and confidence to have lots of messy play. I love how happy my little one is being here.
I have nothing but good things to say about this nursery. My son joined when he had only just turned 1 and I was immediately impressed by how well the nursery was kept in addition to the calm and caring energy of the staff before even enrolling my son and was quick to put in my application. The nursery has exceeded my already high expectation of it for the last 2 years, successfully helping my ‘can’t let go of mummy’ baby blossom into a social, resilient, kind and independent little boy. They went above and beyond when my son was recovering from temporary brain damage to help with reintroducing him back into the nursery setting and constantly helping with advised physio along the way. They have successfully helped aid in any safeguarding concerns I had related to home life, inevitable behavioural bumps that needed ironing, potty training, removal of dummy. You name it they supported you. They’ve been great at communication throughout his nursery journey. Cannot recommend enough.
My son attended the nursery from the baby room all through to preschool. He really enjoyed his time at the nursery and all the staff really helped his confidence grow, so he was ready to start school. He really enjoyed the outdoor area where he spent most of his time throughout the summer.
Wonderful nursery. My daughter started, full-time, when she was nine months and the baby room staff were incredible. I could not fault anything about their care, their communication, their flexibility, their activities and the general atmosphere of this nursery. My daughter loved going every single day. The thought, imagination and effort that the staff go to, to give the children the best start, opportunities and experiences is second to none! The messy play, the outside visits, the garden, the painting, the themed days and events - it is all just fantastic for a growing child to experience. My daughter has now moved up to the 2-3 group and is still loving it. I was nervous about her going up as she loved the baby room so much, but she has settled in so well - even in a pandemic! The communication between nursery, the YMCA group and parents during the covid issues has been great and really appreciated. I am so so pleased I picked this nursery. Thoroughly recommend.
