View Full Details of Kids Capers Day NurseryOur daughter joined Kidscapers in July 23. Initially, everything went well until a few months in when the nursery moved her to the older room meant for 2.5-5-year-olds when she was still settling in and a little over 2 years old. Despite assurances it became obvious that the move was premature resulting in her regressing to being deeply upset both at drop off’s and pick-ups. This was made worse by what we can only describe as virtually non-existent communication both by Nursery management who refused to meet us face to face and her key worker who on the few times was seen gave us little insight into how our daughters day to day was. One included the fact that on arrival of her being emotional, she was handed a tablet with Cocomelon to calm her down! In short, we found the nursery to consider ratios more than a child’s needs, and on more than one occasion came away feeling like it was a creche more than a nursery. Which led us to making the difficult decision to move our daughter last month.
We had to withdraw our daughter from Kids Capers due to health and safety concerns over her milk allergy. In the space of a few weeks, they gave her food containing milk twice, even though she is dairy-free and has an allergy so severe that she can be hospitalised. Both times she was ill as a result of these mistakes. We met with management who took our complaint seriously and a report we made to OFSTED has been followed up (you can google their OFSTED reports), however, we didn’t feel it was safe to leave our daughter there. We never saw the nursery allergy policy or any other policies and procedures during our daughters’ time so if you have a child with allergies, I really urge you to speak to the nursery to make sure proper procedures are in place so your experience is more positive than ours was.
The team were excellent while my daughter, who now loves nursery, was settling in. She had not been away from me before and they were fabulous. She now loves nursery and after each session I hear how much she has been doing from playing with sand, glitter and glue to being outside or in the sensory room. A massive thank you to the staff, knowing she enjoys it, makes leaving her, a tiny bit easier.
All good.
Both my sons have attended this nursery - my youngest one still does. The environment is warm, bright and colourful. There is good outdoor space which, while not extensive is well used and interesting. The staff are caring and professional, and they know the children judging by parents evenings and informal feedback. Even though we have moved a little further from the nursery I continue to use them as I feel very confident in their ability to care for my child. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
I am a mother to a 3 year old boy in the Rainbow room of kids capers. My son first started in the Sunshine room aged 7 months and has been going full time ever since. My son is always happy to be at nursery and has made some wonderful friends, as have I. I have never had to fight with him, to go to nursery, but often have to drag him out as he doesn’t want to leave! In the Rainbow room, every day is different. They have stations set up so the children can move around freely joining in activities as they wish, the have free access in and out of the fantastic gardens that are secure, partially covered and very highly maintained. They have a sensory room, a story room, interactive television, story headsets and every toy imaginable! The nursery is always clean, and seems very well organised. Staff seem happy and are very friendly. Due to the location, the nursery also have access to the playground next door and the woodlands that adjoin the grounds. As the nursery manager is training to be a Forest School Leader, they are in the woods weekly, learning about animals, nature, woodlands as well as gardening and okaying games. The nursery also have a minibus, that they use for trips out. My son has been to Beaver Water World, Nutfield Priory Farm nature trail, Glovers Woods and Santa’s grotto in the town. He, like all the children love the trips. In addition to trips out, the nursery also organise an annual visit from the local fire station, the fire fighters bring a fire engine and let the kids on board an spray the hoses, whilst learning about fires. There is so much I haven’t even included, regular parents evenings, on-line secure learning journals that you can view and add to, summer Tea parties, fancy dress days, face painting, baking, Christmas Show, BBQ’s, the list could go on… I would highly recommend this nursery. We see them as out extended family. My son calls it ‘Nursery home’ – Says it all!
After initial teething problems with the nursery we believe they have taken on board feedback and enhanced the experience for both of our children and ourselves. A majority of staff are very approachable and helpful in assisting with queries, in particular the use of the reward chart to encourage good behaviour. We will be sending our third child in the future there as well as we believe that there is a good approach to the care and development of the children.
Very friendly staff, I never worry about leaving my son here as I know he is in good hands and looked after very well. He is always very happy when I pick him up and tells me about different things they do at nursery.
Thank you to Kids Capers Nursery and all the amazing staff for providing such fantastic care for my Daughter and previously my Son. Both of my Children have benefited so much from the environment, atmosphere and routines provided. Recently my Daughter moved up into another room at nursery and the transition was flawless! She has completely embraced the change and I put this down to the way it is managed by the staff. She is already singing all the new songs, has made new friends and is very excited to tell me what she has learnt or done each day! I believe that the interaction with other children and adults, combined with the routines and learning opportunities provided are a fantastic base for any child prior to starting school. It certainly proved to be the case with our Son who will soon be 7! Thank you again, for all you do for our children. :-) I must add that I love the 'Tapestry' online learning journal! The perfect way to record development, share moments and keep in close contact.
Very good nursery with caring and competent staff. I have always received developmental information on my child and the staff have always been very helpful. The way the nursery teaches the children is excellent.
