View Full Details of Sunshine Day NurseryMy daughter attended Sunshine Day Nursery from 2021 to starting school this September. She loved her time there and has been very well prepared for starting school. The staff are all very enthusiastic and caring. I would highly recommend the nursery to other parents. Thank you!
We have used this nursery since 2018 and it is absolutely excellent in all areas, for all early years developmental stages. It is a perfect location for our work and the site is utilised well for an inner-city nursery. The hospital site food is well-balanced and our children have enjoyed it. Most importantly, the care has always been exceptional and all staff (both childcare, domestic and administrative) are hardworking and enthusiastic, especially during difficult times in the Covid pandemic. The children's activities are thoughtful and fun, and both our children have thrived here. We have always had upmost trust in all staff. I highly recommend Sunshine Day Nursery for childcare.
My daughter has had a lovely time in this nursery. She is in two different nurseries and she prefers Sunshine much more than another one. My daughter has Eczema and food allergy and the nursery has been taking good care of my daughter for a long time. She never has one allergy reaction in Sunshine. The teachers here are very polite and patient. My girl loves (her key person)so much. I also enjoy the activities in pre-school.
My two children have both attended Sunshine Day Nursery at the Hallamshire from when they were about 1. We are extremely grateful to the staff for the wonderful and important work they do. Have found all the staff to be caring and feel very confident in their support. The kids have had a lovely experience.
I've been using Sunshine Day Nursery since my eldest was one and she is due to start school in September. The staff are so caring, and kind, but also sensible and understanding. I have my second in the baby room and they've been fantastic with him too. I feel that the staff work hard in areas where it could be much better funded. They truly care about the kids. Thank you.
Brilliant Nursery! My oldest son thrived here and now my youngest son attends and says 'I love nursery' because he enjoys it so much. He started when he was one and will soon be starting school. Initially, I was concerned due to spending his first year indoors due to the pandemic and he had limited interaction with other children, but the staff were brilliant with him and he settled in perfectly which eased my worries. The staff are amazing with him and I am always confident he is well cared for. The love and support he receives from the staff builds his confidence and he always leaves preschool happy. He loves attending preschool, where the incredible staff helped build up his confidence and speech. I would definitely recommend this nursery.
My son started nursery here just after his first birthday and has remained there until he started school just before his 5th birthday. He took quite a bit of settling in but the staff were always great with him and reassured me that he was fine not long after I had left. I was always confident he was well looked after and would definitely recommend the nursery. He loved the chocolate cake so much that the person who is one of the members of staff who is responsible for food found me the exact recipe the nursery used so I could make the cake at home, although mine didn’t quite come up to scratch.
Fabulous, 'I love going there', this was my son's comment and this is why. My son joined Sunshine day nursery in January 2022. At this time he has just moved from Egypt and my main worry was adapting with a new culture and language. He joined buttercups for eight months before doing preschool for another year and he is about to go to school now. The support and love he was given made his transition much easier. He loved going to nursery for the almost two years. He enjoyed the place, activities and he developed social and hand skills. He is fluent in two languages now (for his age for sure) and I believe the support he got throughout his time there was crucial for him and his confidence. When my son needed eye-patching as part of his treatment they also looked after him very well. Because we are Muslims they gave him a diet that matched our beliefs.
My little one has attended Sunshine Day Nursery at the Hallamshire Hospital since she was nine months old. She is now four and a half and ready for school! It's been a fantastic experience for my daughter and myself as a mother. The facilities are amazing, feedback is fantastic and the staff are amazing. I have a three week old who will also be attending Sunshine Day Nursery, hopefully in April 2024, and I have no doubt he will have a wonderful experience too.
Excellent nursery, great all round care. My daughter started halfway in due to moving to the area, she settled there quite quickly. The staff are lovely, always with a smile, and very very helpful. I highly recommend it!
My daughter started at Sunshine Day Nursery two years ago. Covid had happened, and she hadn't had much interaction with other children and hadn't really been without mum or dad. She had three settling-in days, on the first one, she pretty much cried the whole time! But after that, she settled very quickly. I can safely say this is because of the love and support that she received from all of the wonderful staff there. She is now in preschool and is about to leave to go to infant school. The staff are fabulous in preschool. We wouldn't be leaving unless we had to! My daughter will miss everyone! It is also very useful to be able to pay for the fees through the salary sacrifice scheme, as payments are automatically deducted from your wage. I would highly recommend this nursery.
My son has been at this nursery for just under a year. Due to a change in circumstances, I can no longer send him there which is very sad and unfortunate because the staff are so attentive, compassionate and nurturing. I would defo recommend this nursery, my son has made a handful of friends. When I come to pick him up he has paint, ink and play dough on his clothes - that’s a good sign surely.
My little boy started at Sunshine Day Nursery back in January 2021 after spending the most part of his first year of life inside due to the lockdown. Obviously, this was a very delicate time for everyone and certainly for me as a first-time Mum returning to work in an unfamiliar world. The staff went above and beyond to support my son in a nursery environment and from that point he has thrived under Sunshine Day Nursery's nurturing. My son took to the handovers really well and I felt comforted with the relationship he developed with his compassionate key workers. I had good communication via the App as well as regular 'parents evenings'/emails and calls. My son then transitioned into the 2+ room where he has begun to develop more independence. The nursery are very accommodating with flexible days. All in all the nursery offers fantastic value for money. My son would be going to Sunshine Day Nursery's preschool however our family are relocating. I would definitely recommend the nursery!
My 1-year-old has attended the nursery for a couple of months, and I have been so impressed with the care they've received. The children are given the opportunity to be involved in many activities every day, including playing outside, in the sensory room, singing, story time and various crafts. However, it's really child-led, so they can decide whether to join in or do their own thing. The app is great to see all the things they get up to and photos, but we also get excellent verbal handovers from the staff on how each day has gone. They have been very pragmatic with illnesses and have let me know when there have been concerns to raise with a GP. The staff show a commitment to child safety, and they carefully monitor who can come into the building/pick up the children. Three particular ladies have been brilliant and developed a wonderful bond with our child. I have also interacted with many other staff (all lovely), and everyone seems passionate and enthusiastic about their work. Thank you, Sunshine team.
Our daughter attended the nursery from age 1 to 4. We were very happy with the care provided. The staff always seemed fully engaged and had a great rapport with our daughter. The nursery was very flexible in terms of opening hours, and you could book in or swap days at relatively short notice. Pre-school was ideal preparation for school. We will miss our daughter going and would not hesitate to use it again in the future.
Both my children have attended Sunshine Day Nursery from ages 1-4, and so they have been a big part of our family life since 2015. We have always been very pleased with the care that staff provide; they are always welcoming and engage well with the children, really getting to know their likes and dislikes. They nurture the children's imagination and inquisitive nature, facilitating learning through a wide range of themes and activities. Facilities are always clean, look interesting and are age-appropriate. Despite the outdoor area being relative limited for the number of children there, there is a good variety of equipment and toys, and they are regularly outside during the day. Communication with key workers is good with regular reviews of children’s progress. Communication with the office has always been very good over email or the phone. Overall, we have been very confident that the children are happy, safe and well stimulated, and we will miss our nursery days!
Sunshine is a great place to have your child. My son has always looked happy there, in a hurry to say bye to me whenever I drop him off in the morning. The place is very well organized, with lovely, cheerful staff. They're very accommodative, patient and very respectful in their approach. I'll always recommend this place to all parents. Thanks for all your care.
My two children aged 2 and 4-years were both very happy throughout their time in this nursery. They were very well cared for by friendly, compassionate staff and always enjoyed their days. They developed socially and emotionally from their interactions in the nursery and had great fun taking part in a huge array of daily activities in the classroom, including painting, outdoor play, water play and sensory room exploration. As a parent, I found the long queues outside of the nursery for collection and pick-ups difficult. I feel the collection/drop-off system could be better managed to allow parents some time to interact with carers and reduce unnecessary waiting, but I know my kids were very happy here, and I would have no hesitation in recommending this nursery to other parents. We are only leaving due to a change in job location.
My little one started here after her other nursery had to shut. At first, I was worried about how she was going to cope after being settled somewhere else for such a long time. I shouldn't have worried - this nursery is fantastic. The workers are all so kind, supportive and attentive to my child's needs. They regularly keep me informed and communicate well with me as a parent. My child has had a lovely time at this nursery, and thanks to them, she will be ready to start school.
Really, really happy with everything the nursery does. My one gripe is the continuing need to wait in a queue for the kids to be bought down one by one at pick up, apart from that, everything else (communication, standard of care, learning, facilities, the activities the kids do, etc) is top-notch.
