View Full Details of Dicky Birds Day Nursery and Preschool Wimbledon, Pelham RoadMy son has been going to the nursery for the last 6-7 weeks. The care and empathy with which the staff manage their day-to-day operations are very good. My son has taken some time to settle but the nursery has been so cooperative in working with us as a team to ensure he likes the place. They even went to the extent of coming home one day to meet him in his familiar surroundings to help him adjust. The approach overall is so warm and friendly. Another example of personalised attention is ordering toys that he is familiar with so that he feels comfortable and at home. Even in terms of food, they always ask what he likes and prepare food outside of the set menu for him. They also provide regular updates on the app. I am impressed with this nursery's approach and feel that all the carers and nursery managers there genuinely show an interest in a child's development. I can safely leave my son in their care and know that he will blossom there and learn many new skills.
We have been sending our son to Dicky Birds since September 2023 and he looks forward to going to nursery every week. We have noticed how much he has developed in terms of interaction with others, his maturity and his independence. We also have made great friends with the other parents in his room.
My son has been in this nursery for the last 18 months. The management and staff there are all genuinely caring and attentive. My son has grown and developed significantly in his social and communication skills. Although he was initially hesitant and reluctant, my son is now happy to attend daily and in fact looks forward to meeting the carers and his friends. The nursery has a continuous improvement approach - recently, they have revamped indoor and outdoor facilities - the new outdoor play area looks fabulous and ready just in time for the warmer weather; they have improved staffing levels; and listened actively to concerns and feedback of parents; started home learning activity kits, etc. Older kids also benefit from additional PhysEd lessons which is welcomed. Meanwhile, I would love to see more learning activities for 2-3-year-olds such as music, and languages in addition to the arts and crafts activities and play. Overall, I'm happy with Dicky Birds and hope to see it continue to flourish.
My daughter started this nursery when she was 10 month old. I could say that she grew up in Dicky Birds Pelham Road. She had been in this place for almost 4 years, she stayed in every room across the nursery, in every stage she was well looked after by the teachers. The staff were always attentive and super caring! The food was great and varied. The building was completely renovated - amazing facilities. I really liked seeing regular updates and pictures on the app. Now she's in reception, but she alway says that she would like to go back to the nursery to see her teachers. She loved them deep in her little heart. Thank you for all the staff, you've all been very kind to my daughter. I would highly recommend this nursery.
My daughter attended this nursery and it was absolutely brilliant! The only reason we had to leave is because we moved overseas. She started in the baby room then moved to sparrows then the robin room. My daughter would usually walk in without saying bye. This is how much she liked the place. The staff were always attentive and super caring! The food was great and varied. The building was completely renovated - amazing facilities. I really liked seeing regular updates and pictures on the app. The management changed since we first started and improved a lot in terms of communication and parent updates. My little girl thrived there so much! She learnt so many new skills. I was always amazed at how quickly she picked up new words and learnt to sing nursery songs. The lady from the baby room is a superstar. Special thank you as well to two ladies for looking after our little girl so well. I would highly recommend this nursery.
We had a positive experience overall. The staff and carers took great care of the children. Management were always available to help with any concerns we might have and really tried to make our son’s time at the nursery a safe and positive experience. They had lovely outings and fun celebrations in key holidays and our son loved when little pets were brought in to learn about and play with. The only thing we might have liked is a bit more structured activities, where all children are invited to participate, specially those who are more introverted.
As a father who works away a lot, it was important that we found a nursery for our son where he was comfortable and cared for, Dicky Birds did just that. We have recently moved out of London and I can honestly say that despite having great friends and living in a lovely area, the hardest part about relocating was knowing our son would have to leave Dicky Birds and its fantastic staff. In short, I would highly recommend.
Very happy. Our child adores her amazing carers. They give her presents and they upload the most beautiful photos of her. She learns so much. We’ve actually added her in an extra day as she’s so happy there!
My son is really happy. The management has been brilliant in identifying his needs and transitioning him to the Woodpecker room. He absolutely loves the level of engagement and activities in that room. And is learning a lot it seems. Thank you to the manager for your leadership and to the rest of the team for personalizing the support to his needs.
This nursery has gone through lots of changes over the last two years, and we too have had a bit of an up and down journey with them. There are many things we were super happy with: The menus are excellent and our child always ate very well. They make potty training simple and fun. They truly ignited our child's love for all things arts and crafts. The building was thoroughly renovated, so is now a welcoming and safe space for the children. My main problem with the nursery is the lack of (relevant) communication. It wasn't always this way, in the beginning there was a monthly newsletter, a daily photocopy sheet detailing the day's activities and areas of focus and they also shared photos almost daily. After a new communication app was introduced, any meaningful communication slowly stopped and all was left was a real time log of toilet visits and meal times. They do a fine job keeping your child occupied while you work, but I'd say there is some room for improvement too.
My daughter has attended Dicky Birds for the last eighteen months and she is thriving there. She loves all the staff and her friends. They have been particularly helpful with her potty training and got her comfortable with using the potty really quickly. They spend lots of time in the garden and doing activities outdoors which is great for my little one. It’s great watching my child learn and grow in a safe and happy environment.
Such a lovely nursery. My little boy started attending four months ago and with their help settled in so quickly and absolutely loves being there. The app showing the meals, nappy changes etc. is great and the staff are so good at getting in touch to inform me of even the smallest things. Would recommend to mum friends.
We had two children attending Dicky Birds Pelham for the last year and have absolutely loved it. The staff is so kind and loving, my children talked about everyone there all the time. They looked forward to going, which made drop off a breeze.
We joined the Dicky Birds family in October 2022 and are so pleased that we did! My daughter has a genetic condition that effects her development and causes her to have seizures. Prior to starting Dicky Birds, she spent her time with myself and a childminder as we didn't feel that she was ready to enter a nursery setting, how wrong we were! From our initial visit, we knew that she would be just fine and have been proven right every day since. The staff are warm and welcoming and have gone out of their way to ensure that my daughter is not only safe but included as well. In her short time with Dicky Birds we've seen her development and confidence thrive and we know that is in big part to the care and work put in by her keyworker and the setting. As a first-time mum of an SEN child, Dicky Birds has been everything that I needed and more!
Our son loves going to nursery and we are extremely happy with the standard of care but the recent upgrades to the building, rooms and provisions have added to this. The team are so hands-on with the kids and we know he is well looked after, is offered a diverse range of food and has a varied day including games, reading, art and outside adventures. The team genuinely care about the kids and this is the most important thing for me. Our son is safe, cared for and engaged in activities.
I feel comfortable knowing that my child is being well taken care of by the professional, caring team at Dicky Birds Day Nursery. He has built a rapport with his carers who are always happy to tailor their approach for each child as necessary.
A lovely nursery with great facilities and caring staff. My daughter is super happy and well looked after. The nursery provides nutritious and tasty meals each day. They have an outdoor garden and also take babies on little trips. I am always kept informed via an app about my daughters daily activities.
Excellent nursery. Our son loves going. Staff are attentive and caring. The recent renovations on the building have made it really good and we look forward to the garden room being done soon. Thanks, Dicky Birds Nursery and staff!
Amazing, fun and loving staff. It really does feel like a family. Our daughter loves to go to nursery and clearly has a great day when she’s there. It’s obvious the Manager and all the staff care about making it a great nursery.
Excellent nursery. All staff are extremely friendly, supportive, helpful and caring. Beautifully refurbished rooms and a brilliant outdoor space with lots of activities. Regular trips out in Wimbledon in the buggy bus.
