View Full Details of The Wendy House Day Nursery - Lickey HillsI couldn’t recommend the nursery highly enough. From the first day, when my wife and I were anxious about leaving our son, we were made to feel at ease and comfortable. Since then, the nursery helped settle him quickly, and he now loves it. The staff are friendly and brilliant while the facilities are also wonderful. The variety of food he’s given is brilliant, and communication is perfect.
My daughter has been in Wendy house, Lynwood for the last 2 years and I can honestly say she has always come home happy and well cared for. She started off in the baby room and has progressed through all the rooms with ease and we were informed of her progress and developmental needs at every stage. All the staff have been absolutely lovely, friendly and so approachable with any concerns we had during handovers and personal chats. Our daughter is always talking about the staff in the nursery and how she loves the activities and the interesting things they teach her and has formed lovely bonds with all of them. Especially during COVID, as keyworkers, we were extremely appreciative of all the arrangements made and the safety measures taken to keep the service running and for accommodating our needs and timings. We always recommend this nursery to all our friends and we are extremely glad we chose this nursery as the foundation base for our child`s early learning.
I only have good things to say about this nursery, from the minute we made first contact to having the walk around, we were made to feel very welcome and comfortable. I was so worried about leaving my little boy for the first time after being home with him for the first 12 months of his life, but my mind was put at ease from the manager, a lovely lady - and the staff are all very friendly and caring. I viewed lots of nurseries before making the decision to send my little boy to The Wendy House and I’m so glad I chose this nursery. It was by far my favourite and still is 6 months on, it’s clean and I have to say my son seems very happy, you can really see the effort that’s been put in, by his development with talking etc, we as a family are very happy with the care he is receiving.
Staff are wonderful and have been great during this difficult time with all the changes due to coronavirus. We get great updates on how our son is progressing and love seeing the photos of him doing things throughout the day.
My child has attended Wendy House in Lynwood for over a year and during this time he has formed a lovely bond with all the staff. Each day is filled with great activities where he is constantly learning whilst having fun. The staff are excellent, friendly and professional. The nursery is clean, safe and an excellent place to learn. The daily menu is nutritious, varied and tasty. We are very happy that we get to send our son to Wendy House every day.
My eldest daughter went here and we now go out of our way to take our youngest. We wouldn't go anywhere else. The staff are second to none and my girls love them. My eldest (now in Year 1) still talks about how she misses nursery. The setting is brilliant - rooms are decorated lovely and all very natural. They have lots of outdoor time in a lovely, safe and enclosed garden. I can speak to and ask the staff anything, nothing is too much trouble.
The staff here are incredibly dedicated to the children they look after and they build genuine relationships with them. This is our main priority for day care. Our daughter talks about the staff at the nursery when she's at home with us all the time and regularly talks about how much she loves them and what they teach her. The staff in the pre-school section are brilliant, really understand the development of children and what they need to do in order to be school-ready. The food is varied and healthy. If we've ever been worried about any dietary need (we thought our daughter may have been gluten intolerant at one point) the nursery were completely supportive and adapted our daughter's meals. The App notification observations are detailed and informative as they're linked to the EYFS. We have had parents' evenings to discuss individual development which is lovely. The nursery also put on stay and play sessions (pre covid) which I really enjoyed as you get an insight into what goes on.
Our daughter has attended the Wendy House Nursery, Lynwood, for 3 years for 4 days a week. Throughout that time, we have experienced the different room settings, staff and focus on key learning activities for the age and stage she was at. Generally, our experience of this nursery has been very positive and our daughter has been very settled, well cared for and stimulated to learn new things. She has made close friends, as have we, with other parents from the local area. I am always reassured that her buddy nursery practitioner knows her very well and she is treated as an individual. The daily handover reports and the milestone assessments on the whole been very consistent and thorough. The last 9 months have been spent in Foundation, while our daughter was one of the youngest, she got a lot from interacting with the older pre-school children. Now she is in the older set, she regularly benefits from time with her buddy to work on writing and numbers.
Extremely friendly atmosphere, clean, well looked after environment and plenty of learning resources. Great structure to the day, staff really know the children and lots of different, fun activities set. My 3-year-old and 18-month-old both attend and have done since they were 7-month-old; they cannot wait to get in the car in the morning to go. I find the staff extremely approachable, and they are always willing to help if I have any questions or queries. I have recommended this nursery to friends and will continue to do so; the reliable stability during the COVID lockdown and provided the normality my children needed and required as I am a key worker, I can’t thank them enough.
My two girls have attended The Wendy House over the past few years. They have both enjoyed going to nursery and when the eldest left to go to school she was very sad to leave. The days are well structured and there is a lot of learning whilst they play. The children are in small groups so they learn to socialise in a safe and supportive environment. In the foundation unit pre-school year my daughter was well prepared for school learning for example how to hold a pencil and basic phonics which have really helped her transition to school. The staff are caring and cheerful. The food is healthy and they eat very well. I am very grateful to all the staff for all the care and kindness that they have and continue to show my daughters and I would highly recommend The Wendy House.
As a family, we have used The Wendy House Day Nursery for over 4 years. My daughter has since left to go to school but my son is still there. The staff are fantastic and always make you feel comfortable and reassured. They recognise the child’s individual needs and help encourage them. My son has built up a valuable relationship with his key worker and gets excited to see and spend time her which means a happy child a happy mom! Pick up can be challenging at present with waiting times but appreciate this is due to COVID-19 rather than the nursery itself.
Fantastic nursery, fantastic staff and an all-round fantastic place for children. My daughter has been going here for nearly 3 years and she loves it. The fact she can’t wait to go in the morning and runs in the door speaks for itself. She often speaks at home about how much she loves her teachers and tells me all the wonderful things she's done and learnt. I have the utmost respect for all the team especially the handling of the COVID where they have gone above and beyond to ensure our children are safe. The standards are high at the nursery. After seeing many before sending my daughter here I was impressed with the cleanliness, the early years curriculum and the kitchen on-site so they have cooked meals. My daughter has come on leaps and bounds here. I can’t recommend this nursery enough.
My eldest has been at this nursery for 3-years and youngest for a year, and they both have a brilliant time. Every day they have organised, engaging and fun activities planned, with themed weeks during the year. They are both happy, stimulated and full of energy when they come home. The food is good and varied with healthy snacks. They are well looked after and have formed good friends with their peers and with the staff, who are friendly and approachable.
My daughter started just before lockdown and she settled in straight away. The induction and settle sessions they offered were fantastic, she had 3 months off with lockdown but has settled straight back into nursery and the staff have made it so enjoyable for her with lots of great activities.
Our daughter has been very happy when she has been returning home from nursery and enjoys telling us about what she has been doing during the day. The communications we've received have made us feel comfortable that the appropriate risk assessments are being done and acted upon. We've also been really pleased with how our daughter has transitioned back into nursery and the efforts the staff have made to bring a bit of normality back into her life. We have really appreciated the observations that have been uploaded, allowing us to feel apart of her day whilst also seeing for ourselves how happy she is to be back, especially given how much time she has spent away from the setting. Additionally, we are grateful that our daughter is being supported with things that she has shown an interest in such as writing her name and practising letters, this is something she showed an interest in at home and it is great that this has been identified by staff.
My children have been attending this nursery setting for the last 3 years. The staff work so hard to ensure there are engaging activities on a daily basis, high quality of food and that my children are happy! What’s more, they are doing a fantastic job in creating a fun learning environment to prepare my son for when he starts school - he’s learning something new every week and takes great joy is sharing this with us! Feedback is regularly requested from parents and acted upon where required - promoting continuous improvement. I would recommend this nursery.
We attended this setting over a period of six months. Although it looks pleasant enough from the outside, I found the staff were disinterested and the setting at times was grubby. There is a high turnover of staff which means a lack of consistency with key personnel, this makes it hard for parents to see development with their child. This may be just my own experience, so please read other reviews.
